Redbridge 0 Hornchurch 5 - stats and report

Dagger03

Recommended Posts

As already reported, Jon Green was injured in the first few seconds of the match. An ambulance was called immediately but the caller did not stress the nature of the injury and a second call had to be made, as calls are prioritised. A second call was made and the ambulance arrived shortly after the third goal was scored and Jon was treated in the changing room.

A big thank you to the home side for remaining in the board room at half time, rather than going into the changing rooms.

REDBRIDGE 0 HORNCHURCH 5

With just ten seconds played, Jon Green collided heavily with Mason Durrell as he went for a through ball, and after lengthy attention he was stretchered off. When play eventually restarted, Durrell parried a long range shot and PAUL SHAVE followed up to prod the ball over the line. Shave missed another chance shortly afterwards when he ran on to a high ball but flicked his shot wide of the post, and Mark Goodfellow went close with a shot from the edge of the area. Hornchurch went further ahead when PAUL SHAVE followed up a Billy Coyne cross which had hit the bar and rebounded. Less then thirty seconds later it was three when another Coyne cross was converted by JOE STEVENS. Play was again held up due to an injury to Harry Haley.

Shortly before half time Stevens was pulled down inside the penalty area but play continued. At half time the home side went into the board room as Jon Green was still being treated in the changing room, and he was eventually taken to hospital as the teams came out for the second half. It is believed that he has a whiplash injury resulting from the collision. Hornchurch strolled through the second half, and went four up when JONATHAN HUNT finished off a fine solo run with a hard drive from the edge of the area. The fifth goal followed when KRIS LEE touched home a centre from the left wing. Lee had the ball again in the net soon after, with a neat header from a free kick, but the goal was disallowed. Bostry Bansende ran through the middle and his shot was tipped around the post by Durrell, and Bansende hit another shot narrowly wide of the post. Michael Bowditch had little to do, though he made a good save from Nathaniel Hibbert and did well to punch away a cross when under pressure from Bradley Ross.
