3 OG's in the Barking game, dont think either side wanted to win did they..!!

I see Burnham Ramblers hit top form last night scoring 7. Definetly the team in form at the moment.

I was at the game and they rested several kep players and still managed to dominate the game from start to finish.

Goal of the game was a 25 yard screamer from Fergus.

I think it is a valid point that Burnham look good, but Eton Manor were saying even before the game that they didn't want to go through. Their chairman tried to withdraw from the competition but didn't want to pay the fine. They told me last night that they'd left 9 senior players at home and there were definitely 2 16 year olds that I'd never seen before and a couple of 17 year olds who have only come off the bench previously.

But they did ok until the last 15 mintues when the young lad in goal had a bit of a mare.

Why would you not want to play in the Essex Senior Cup.........chance of facing Southend, Col Ewe or Dagenham - must be great for the smaller clubs.

Even worse...if your in the competition, then why not give it a go. With all due respect to Eton Manor, I would'nt say that they are good enough to be resting 'Senior' players

Maybe because Southend Utd, Colchester Utd, Dagenham all play their Youth / Reserves. Braintree & Grays tend to play squad players. Chelmsford City are probably the best draw as they take it the most serious of all the top clubs. (upto Conference South)

But playing at a football league ground against Professionals and infront of a few hundred people must be a huge incentive.

As you said, Chelmsford take it seriously....we played their virtual first XI last season in this cup. In the past I have also played against Grays (Thurgood, Boylan, Slabber)and Canvey Island (Tilson, Gregory, Ward) when they were both flying high in the conference so its a great experience for sides of ESL level IMHO.

Each to there own though I guess.

I know the Romford lads loved their day out at the Colchester Inbred stadium last year....

I think if there was any question the result and performance proved Eton Manor aren't good enough to be resting senior players, but I think they knew that anyway, which was the point. But equally while you could draw Southend United, you could also draw a home tie against a far flung Ridgeons team, which end up costing you money and you still get knocked out.

It's like at Waltham Forest, we've taken it seriously and got through a couple of rounds a few times in the last few years and then still got rubbish draws.

I'd much prefer Waltham Forest to take the Ryman League Cup seriously like Tilbury last season - because we'd have at least a small chance of winning that. As far as I'm concerned County Cups have had their day and it's time to consign them to the past.
