Plucky old romford were on the wrong side of a 7 goal thriller down in thurrock today when they were beaten 7-0 at home by AFC Sudbury(friends of ours!!!)

Well done the Suds! Great bunch of lads up there. Is that 17 goals RFC have conceded in three games? Should keep them quiet for a while.

nice one Sudbury!

 

any chance we could have a friendly with our friends from Sudbury, should we get a free saturday or a chance to slot in an extra game some time?

 

I know they are desperate to get people to watch them but shipping 26 goals in five games in the name of entertainment is a bit extreme.

Sudbury took the lead in the first minute, when the home defence were caught wide open and the number ten ran the ball home. They went further ahead in the fourth minute, and scored again on 15 mins.

 

Romford looked very open at the back, but eventually came more into the game, but conceded two penalties either side of half time (both mistimed tackles), so Sudbury went five up. Goal six came on 64 mins, and Romford then had two chances of their own, one bringing out a good save by Sudbury keeper Richard Willmot, and the other just going wide of the post. Sudbury then missed two open goals, one from less than a yard out, before gettin the seventh on 85 mins.

 

Not sure how many were there - I would guess about 150 with quite a good following from Sudbury. Peter Butcher was there.
