My impressions of the game from listening in that it was a hugely better game and team performance. A bit nervy at the back early on, but with J.K. to come back next week maybe he will stiffen things up. Second half was a great improvement, Sammy Cliff is definately a star for the future, we need to make sure we hang on to him, with age and experience I can see him playing at a much higher level.

 

Re. Ben Lewis, even Wellsie noted on commentary he looked 100% better today and gave a good showing for himself, even after all the stick he go on here. Might have motivated him to prove the boo boys wrong?

 

Also noticed that Blackman was going down a lot again early on but as soon as he started staying on his feet he became a much better player, much much more dangerous. Still not convinced he is the right player to be captaining the side, I know we have done well with him as captain but would still prefer to see a guy futher back in charge, not Ben Lewis I think that put too much pressure on the guy and could be the reason for early season poor form?

 

Overall for me the best game of the season so far, long may the improvements continue.

Yes players who come through the youth systems at big clubs would have more stamina earlier, but their lives are geared around football with training sessions arranged around schoolwork. What DOES have to be taken into account with Sam Cliff is he is still turning out for reserves and under 18's, being eligible for all 3 teams and having the skill to play in all 3 teams must take some of the lads stamina.

I agree he's quality, and a bit of extra work will do him fine. Therefore when he learns what his body needs lifestyle wise, training wise to be at optimum level he will be able to deliver consistently for 90 minutes. So in a roundabout way I was right?

Well you are certainly not up to full stamina at 17. However I have been told that Sam had a Kent match the following day and so couldn't play the full 90 on Sat.

At the moment i still believe the lad is best coming on as a sub and being an impact player. Give the lad time to work through junior and/or reserve sides and let him develop properly rather than chucking him in at the deep end and hoping he swims. For my money he is doing just fine how he is, let him alone to develop naturally.
