Does anyone know why Uxbridge aren't playing in the FA Trophy Preliminary Round? They're the same level as Slough Town (they play in the Zamaretto South & West Division). Looked on their website and the FA (doesn't say they've been given a bye) for info but couldn't find anything.

Probably due to previous cup runs. They reached the 2nd round proper last season

Perhaps some teams get Bye's to balance out the numbers for the later rounds? We are at the same level as last years when we started at the 1st Qualifying.

I thought that too but looked at the 'exemptions list' on the FA website and they're no on there. Seems strange there's no explanation anywhere!

Chris, the 'byes' are based simply on luck of the draw as opposed to previous form in the competition. The FA have to get rid of 52 teams in the preliminary round to give them the right numbers for consequent rounds.
