Question for the fans

Can you really see us playing Man Utd at Holloways Park??!! Yes you can only switch venues if the authorities say so but I think it'll be pretty 100% certain the match would be switched to most probably either Wycombe or Reading.

Although you could switch the game to a local league clubs' ground you would only be entitled to the receipts taken as if the game was played at Holloways Park ie 3,000 capacity or whatever. Take away the costs from that and you wouldn't be left with much! Those are the rules after Farnborough's switch to Highbury purely to make more money a few seasons back.

Perhaps you can enlighten me but what was the FA's problem with a lower league club being rewarded for getting so far in the FA cup and making as money as they could if their ground was not up to scratch for safety reasons?

The problem was, as I said previously, that they switched the game purely for financial reasons. The local authorities had given the go ahead for it to be played at home but they went for greed instead thus ballsing it up for all non-league clubs thereafter! I stand to be corrected but I think Graham Westley was in charge at the time.

That's why in recent years the ground grading levels have gone through the roof and clubs at our level have to have capacities 10,20 or 30 times in excess of our normal gates because the respective leagues didn't want any future embarrassment when their clubs drew a big name out of the hat.

I don't see anything wrong with cashing in. Irrespective of the money why deny players the opportunity to play at a major Premier League stadium in front of crowds they could only dream of?

The Farnborough problem was further exasperated by the fact that Westley was also chairman or owner (or both), pocketed the cash then buggered off with most of the squad to, IIRC, Stevenage. I think that's what the FA really took exception to.

Glory hunters. So what? A few will stick around, but not everyone wants to dedicate themselves to the delights of non league footie.

Westley really is a grade A [****!!****], who helped push Farnborough into administration, pocketing all the Arsenal cash to pay for his 'loans' to the club, when he realised they were never really Conference/league material.
