I've made a comment that we either come out to "Simply The Best" or "We Will Rock You" - two of the most appallingly clichéd songs ever!!

 

I know we've done the old 'what tune should the Saints come out to' thing before, so I won't go over old ground, but surely there must be someone better to do the Tannoy on a Saturday afternoon instead of having to listen to the same crap music (normally Now 33-ish) and the boring drone of the current bloke. (No offence to the 'current bloke' of course - even though he is crap!!)

1. Get Thornsy to do the tannoy.

2. Get HMV to supply more recent music, and play some of that, Thornsy introducing it in his radio-style manner.

3. Get a roving mic.

4. Run out to Beastie Boys - The Biz vs. The Nuge immediately followed by Beastie Boys - Sabotage.

IMO it's gotta be something that has good, apt lyrics, or has a crescendo early on that gets the adrenaline going.

 

The Baywatch theme tune's always a classic.

I've got a Van Halen version of You Really Got Me Now that's got a 1 minute 50 seconds guitar solo intro. I still think most songs by RATM fit the bill, apart from the swearing.

I'd say Prokofiev-Dance of the knights,it's what Sunderland come out to,though it didn't really work for them.

We already play the 'Final Countdown' so don't play that.

A list of songs to not run out to? All of Zeal's list above, plus "Let Me Entertain You". During the Allan Cockram era, we used to come out to a bizarre segue of "2001 A Space Odyssey" and "CC Rider" (Elvis - Vegas stylee). I'd throw into the ring the theme tunes to "Dangerman" or "The Streets Of San Fransisco" as possibles, "Rock & Roll" by Led Zeppelin or the Oasis version of "Cum On Feel The Noize" - but then again, I have the worst musical taste ever, so what would I know?

I still think (as mentioned yesterday) that the Family Cats Steamroller for the "and the saints are playing at home today" line in it several times and it's a good indie song!
