FAO: Zeal

GHA EFM

Recommended Posts

I've made 50 appearances, the majority of those on the left wing (occasionally at left-back ) and have scored seven goals.

Best of the bunch? Either the 25-yard curler against Three Lions last season, or the driven half-volley from the edge of the box against Harpenden Arms the year before.

I'm like Eric Cantona - if I can't score a spectacular goal, I'd rather not score at all!!

Zeal: 50 appearances, 7 goals - 1 goal every 7.ish matches.

GHA: 5 appearances (only 3 outfield, mind), 1 goal - 1 goal every 3 outfield appearances

or

1 goal every 5 matches

Of course I'm including that game.

50 : 9 - 1 goal in 5.something matches

5 : 1 - 1 goal in 5 matches

I think I've just worked out what EFM's starting strikeforce should be next season

To be honest, I've done it a couple of times and playing upfront for EFM ain't much fun - the service from midfield is crap, and yes, I do include myself in that too!

I've always found much more space playing on the wing than up front, and it's a lot more enjoyable I reckon.

The EFM vs EFM game does not count towards the official EFM records, so I'm afraid your tally is 4 matches 0 goals.

With all due respect GHA, you'd need to be averaging roughly 2 goals per game to cut it up front at Sunday level.

Play rugby? Suggests centre-back to me.

LMU. Portsmouth.

MKJames. I can cut it with the best of 'em.

Tried there. It's an option. EFM need a striker, that's all. And I've played everywhere else in my 5 appearances (RB, Gk, MC, AMC, DRC).

I believe the word is 'libero.' Or 'maestro.'

Mate, I hope you're right, but I think you'll find it much more difficult than you're expecting. It's certainly not like EFM vs EFM every week, nor is it like playing Saints Supporters.

I think you'll be surprised.

Zeal. Hairdressing's easy mate, I dunno what you're worried about.

Seriously, as I said, firstly it depends on uni commitments etc (perhaps EFMTFTV could provide me with some sort of free rail travel for ever ticket??), and secondly I don't mind where I play, as I will play anywhere. I'll be the most unused sub ever if you want...it doesn't matter. All I want is to say that I, GHA, am simply affiliated with EFM...

i played rugby.. im [censored] at football.. i was always [censored] at football.. i reckon im in good enough shape to play some kind of defensive role but expect to see me sent off after 25 mins for two horrfically mistimed tackles.. i also cant help laughing at people who take it seriously or use ludicrous football cliches.. other wise i wouldnt mind a run out

Top man, CANV. Rugby's a real man's game; 'a hooligan's game, played by gentlemen.'

Zeal. You mean they actually take it seriously now? I mean I know that the SS - EFM match is always taken seriously (at least, I always have), but the rest of the games are too?

It's just not EFM anymore. But that was always destined to happen, wasn't it?

Unfortunately, yes, GHA.

I wouldn't say the Saints Supporters matches were ever taken too seriously, in that we've always played it as a bit of a laugh.

Thing is, that now 60-70% of our players haven't got a clue a) what EFM is, B) who SACFC are, c) what playing for EFM is all about, d) etc. etc.

Playing for EFM, certainly when I was running it, meant that EFM, the 'Firm', could all get a game of football on a Sunday morning.

Sure, we'd lose most of our games, but it was never taken seriously, and it was done for fun.

Now, we have people playing for us, who take it, and worse still themselves, far too seriously. Moaning at players when they lose the ball. Wait til we go 2-0 down and then start trying to beat everyone by themselves.

These are all so-called 'better' players than the original EFM, but the club has lost its soul and its heart.

I find it all very sad.
