D DAY !!!!!

It's funny how when you think things are going well , we came out of the meeting at the town hall thinking things are moving only to sit down and see what is really happening !

The plan for the secular School will scupper all what has been planned ...this all from a project that has only come to our notice in the last 12 months , now this could scupper all our hopes and asparations !

The school at the scrutiny meeting has been given the prime site and the football club allocated a strip of land locked in the middle , not the full 12 acres which had orginally be ear marked for the club !

I am now very bitter and angry ...but we need to act and get the local's involved for another town hall protest next week 16th june again on the 23rd when the final go ahead gets given to having the school on the site we need !!!!!!!!

We have been waiting 10 years and they have been waiting 6 months .... why can they not move to the abourvale site in 18 months and re apply for the PFI grant then.....or do we really need a secular school here in Slough ??? or do we need a facility for all the residents of Slough and a first class stadium for our Town... ????

We need to raise questions and we need answers !

I have written to Fiona Mac Taggart ask why this has happened and also need to have another meeting with Slough Council.....

IF WE DON'T ACT NOW !!! we will lose everything along with our town losing big time.....

This is about a project to benifit all.... not for a school for that Slough already is under subscibed in other schools..

Cheers Chris

Chris, is there another agenda with the Arborvale School or was it not mentioned? How big is the "strip" of land, e.g. big enough to swing a cat in and produce something capable of sustaining STFC or a waste of time?

Whatever, it's very disappointing.

My shirt's in the wash for next week's fixture at the Town Hall. We need more people this time...come on everyone, let's fight for what we want.

Ted the main points are:

"The school at the scrutiny meeting has been given the prime site and the football club allocated a strip of land locked in the middle , not the full 12 acres which had orginally be ear marked for the club"

Landlocked land? Useless, not just to us, but anyone.

Five years (at least) of pushing the council for a suitable 12 acre site. One comes up, and the school gets preference even though they've only been looking for the past 18 months.

Deaner has been allocated a 5.25 acre plot and is invited to submit a plan of what he wants to do with it. Whilst this isn't the 10 or 12 acres he wants it appeared at first to at least be something although the document handed out at the scrutiny meeting on Monday already stated that Deaner didn't think there was sufficient land to accomodate both his plans and those of the Sikh school.

What has come to light since Monday is that not only has Deaner been allocated just 5.25 acres but it's also landlocked in between Arbor Vale, the land allocated to the Sikh school and the land currently owned by Alan Thorne. Therefore, unless he can get his hands on one of the other pieces of land it has no access and, as such, is pretty useless. The only chance and it's generally accepted as not one he will take, is to wait 18 months and hope he can purchase some or all of the Arbor Vale site which would both give him access and enable him to develop the entirety of his plans.

This is further complicated by the need for him to submit plans of what he wants to do with 'his' 5.25 acres within the next 6 months which he would have to do on the basis of not getting any additional land as Arbor Vale doesn't become available for at least 18 months. The Council must have known that the piece of land was completely worthless as it is so why bother?

Sorry, Gary, my post crossed with yours.

My worry from tonight's meeting is that it seems to be turning into Slough Town Football Club versus the Sikh school and I don't think that's right. Our gripe should be with the Council, not the backers of the Sikh school.

What Ian has stated ! is quite right....

its the football club versus a school... not other issue/issue's please...the fight is that Slough Does not need another school especially there !

Traffic problems.....parking problems and residents preferences......

And is the school going to be for Slough yougsters ?

or for pupils outside of the area !

All valid points..... not a racisist issue what so ever !!

The football club has been waiting for years and years and years for a chance to sort is problems out and these will be scuppered....

ALL SUPPORTERS NEED TO HELP......

I've got no problems with that Sikh school going in, but I do have a problem with putting a school in which clearly isn't needed and will not benefit the people of Slough as much as the football project will.

Being as though that school is only a junior school as well, those kids who do attend it are going to be in for one hell of a shock when they do get to senior school and will quickly have tl learn about mixing with other races in that sort of environment.

To be honest, at the moment, I am finding it hard to see how the council are helping us and more importantly how we get out of it. Chris S, you spoke of having 300 people outside the town hall on Monday 16th between 5pm and 6.45pm. Given that we struggled to hit forty different people throughout the whole of Monday 9th, do you really think this is possible?

It's not just a case of the people who read this coming along, but the people who read this must tell those people who may not know about it, who can then in turn tell other people to attend.

It's now getting very serious people and we do need the numbers out there. If you can make the day, then brilliant. Posters, banners and flags are especially welcome, but most important is getting numbers to turn up in Slough colours.

HELP DO YOUR BIT. TURN UP ON MONDAY 16th OUTSIDE THE TOWN HALL. SLOUGH TOWN FC NEEDS YOUR HELP.

It's simple. Book the next two Monday's as holiday at work and be outside the Town Hall. Don't bother thinking about saving holiday for any football matches next year because if we don't turn it round on the next two Monday's there will be no club to watch. Everyone needs to realise how serious this is.

GET YOURSELF THERE ON MONDAY 16TH AND ON MONDAY 23RD. IT'S NOT THE BEST WAY, IT'S THE ONLY WAY.

Not sure I agree with all of the above. It seems the council is doing something, though probably not enough, Deaner is doing something, STSA is doing what it can.The proposers of the School say they are willing to negoitiate. The missing ingredient is the Thorne's who have the lease on the current ground. Is there any way on putting pressure on them? Everyone else at least seems to be talking and trying.

The protests are vital---good coverage in the Observer this week, as they keep the issue live, so I'll do what I can on Monday, I just wonder if there is anyway of putting pressure on the Thorne's? Please do correct me if I've got it wrong.

Well if we want to secure the existing Wexham Park site, we'll have to deal with them at some stage and I'd rather get it done now while Alan is still around and in good health, than deal with Byron who's already shown his care for the football club back in 1998.
