Brownie

GHA EFM

Recommended Posts

The bid was from Cambridge Utd and not Cambridge City, yes?

Interesting, that. Good thing we rejected it too. After having 18 central defenders when Cookie and Robbo first joined, we don't look to have too many for next season (yet). Moran off. Campbell? People interested in Brownie.

Although Keith Dublin will be a welcome addition, so long as Brew raises the funds to bring him in.

I would have thought it was Cam City who bid. Might be wrong, but given the 'previous', it would make more sense.

I'd move heaven and earth for 'Dubbers' to join. He'd be a welcome addition to the squad. Honest. His first task would of course be to re-enact the famous scene in the bar using chairs and peaNUTS.

That's what I would've thought, but our webbos are such sticklers (??) for details...

LMAO

We'd need to hire a fair few people to form the crowd though...and would the bar do the scene justice? Sunny day, SS vs EFM on the Clarence Park pitch, an England international on TV in the bar, barbeque outside, disco, then turn the floodlights on and recreate the scene exactly as everything happened on the pitch itself...let's not do things by halves, shall we?

It brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it.

You're right, we'd have to go the full monty on the re-enactment. Perhaps contact all those present for some kind of re-union. It would be quite a cast: GHA, Brewer, Hester, Crowther, Westley, Piper x 2, 'Dubbers', Buncey, Jones, Darlington, Bonfield, Thomas, Honeyball, Blaney, Burns, Heider, Ferguson, Taggert, Baptiste, Crawshaw....

Almost a who's who of Non League!

It went downhill at that part (Honeball and Blaney exluded) Brew, that's the problem. Although there was a bit of a comeback at the end.

There's a quiz question for you...

What feat do GHA and Arsenal's Stuart Taylor share?

They both conceded a goal to Rocky Baptiste

You're right. I'm better than that. Bench warmers like Henry, hey. Pah! I wasn't scared of Buncey like the Frenchman was....

As for Baptiste, I reckon your claim is more worthy as he had to hit a screamer to get past GHA, whereas his goal to beat Taylor can at best be described as a scramble!!

I'm sure Nick has fond memories of Baptiste. The back of his head that is!

I can see it now. 'Mr. Wenger, can I just be a sub, we're probably gonna win anyway and I just don't fancy my chances against that Bunce bloke or the Dublin fella.' 'Alright Thierry, but this is the last time.'

Any fond memories of Nicks about Baptiste will be 'ooh, he's got nice calves, hasn't he? And look at him go! Such pace! Er. I could do with a hand...help?!?' <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

That screamer. Is that the one where the ball broke the space-time continuum and actually disappeared due to the thing travelling faster than the speed of light before hitting the back of the net?

The French are all the same. First sign of trouble, underground they go. But that's another story.

Re: Screamer - you may be thinking of Mr Darlington's speedy effort, but I seem to remember 'Rocks' banging one in from the edge of the box.

Nick's still convinced he marked him out of the game/half....

Brew. Let's not split hairs, shall we. There were 7 of them.

He does that with referees, too, I think. Marks out of 10 for performance etc. He gave Baptiste a 9 I think.

Your only shot was headed for the top corner as well, wasn't it?

Did you call him Buncey to his face?

Cherrywood Road? It was the fact that it was called the AIMITA stadium that kept me going...

'Attitude Is More Important Than Ability'

Who's up for the second half then?

Er, got a bad leg boss.

How many did he get? One? The same number as he scored against Arsenal? I rest my case.

Personally I think the McDonnell signing looks like a very positive move. Could still do with an experienced midfield general to call the shots and keep heads up though, we were caught out second best in there too often as last season came to a close.
