Reasons for Terry's departure

As someone who has a tenuous link with the Yorath family, I thought I would sign up to the forums and shed some light on Terry's departure with what I know.

I know that Terry was getting increasingly frustrated with Piper due to his inability to let go of funds so Terry could add to his squad. The average age of the squad is very young, too young. Terry wanted experience in the squad, hence the reason he somehow managed to bring in JK. Often, when the Gate where trailing, he would look round onto his subs bench, and see lads who had barely any experience. He needed some strength in depth, someone on the bench who could come on and try and change the game. He didn't have that. Piper wouldn't give him any money to spend, and Terry didn't have enough players of the correct calibre/experience to work with. It was a huge uphill challenge, one he clearly didnt believe he had the stomach for.

He liked it down here in Margate. He even has some family round here. I dont think there were any personal reasons for leaving, all professional reasons as far as I am aware.

How can that be when we have recently got Nicholls, West, and Keister???

to be fair very few teams in this league can go to the bench and change options that easy with experience etc its the way it is 'down here' not a Man Utd, Liverpool etc that have freedom of players to come off the bench. Think the club has done well with what they have brought in with all the off field issues going on!

And again another bomb shell from Hartsdown Park.

Uncertainty over a new manager!

Uncertainty over the outstanding tax bill!

Uncertainty over whether we'll have a football club come christmas!

When will this torture end and when will supporters be able to have confidence and trust in those that run the club and enjoy supporting there local team?

Only the arrival of one person will change the way I feel about our club at this time.

Step forward Mr Wallace!!!!!

Terry has gone out of his way in interviews to say that he has had the club's backing as far as players' budget is concerned. And let's not forget that financially, the club is where it is because of overspending in the past. Perhaps the purse strings have been loosened more than anticipated already this season, which could be a dangerous road to go down again. Only Terry knows exactly why he chose to go. Perhaps the right thing to do is thank him, respect his decision and not try to speculate as to his reasons.

My only worry is that perhaps Terry knew something we didn't: are any of us 100% certain that the tax bill will ever be cleared? Perhaps Terry knew that, in fact, we are merely delaying the inevitable and, eventually, be it in 56 days time, at Christmas, or whenever, the tax man will come calling yet again and the club will not have the ability to stave it off yet again. He may well have seen that there is no light at the end of the tunnel, and that the club has no future.

Purely speculation of course, but is it possible?

I also cant see that as a factor, for the taxman to accept a futher delay, we must have a very very convincing reason.

To be honest, KP has got exactly what he asked for at the last hearing. He assured the court that he could make the payments in a given time. The court refused then but has obviously seen sense and can acknowledge that the vast majority of the debt has been paid, and that there is no valid reason to wind up the club for such a small amount, that will be paid off in 3 months. I believe we are now seeing a regular income from the 5 a sides which is moving us in the right direction.

No, we're pretty much out of the woods as regards the tax. If we were going under that would have happened last year when we owed much more. We are down to about 12k now, Harlow reportedly owe 270k!

However, I do think there may be a link in that KP may have said to TY we can't spend any more on wages until the bill has been finally cleared. (Which, of course, is the sensible thing to do). Only guessing though.

Unless TY is prepared to hold a meeting and give his reasons for leaving we will never know, but 1 thing is for sure this will keep rolling on with people guessing the reasons why, i feel he was to over qualified for this tier of football, theres my reason. over and out.

Now i've previously always had a bit of time for McCarthy and Kentish football, but 'DO I NOT LIKE THIS'.

Journalistic licence to make a story by fitting together 3 different themes to paint a picture.

i guess its what journalists do to make headlines; but this is disrespectful to TY,club and supporters alike in my opinion.

Is the guy reading the same forums we are writing on? A section of fans said he should go? ok yes a few expressed that sentiment. A section of fans calling for C.K. to come back? 2 people and one of those very tongue in cheek is hardly a section of fans is it? Do we have that few fans now? This is a vry disturbing piece from a journalist looking to cause problems. If he had read the forums he would also have seen a lot more people wanted terry to stay.
