Go wider, I will take a small bet that you or and I repeat or your like minded friends have said that the anti!s believe all the Daily Mail stuff (have lost the ability to reason)and are only concerned at stories reference bent banana!s etc

My objections are economic and the structure of our political life where the Queen is the figure head and not some strutting President

Also consider we are governed at present by politicians we can get rid of in five years (normally four years)and that includes the PM, if or when ruled from Europe that will not be the case, the government that will then rule will not be voted for but slipped in on the old pals act

Spain has built its infrastructure and fishing industry on Euro money (mostly UK & German) Dublin has rebuilt and rediscovered its self on Euro money, Italy likewise and as for the French the entire economy has relied on them being big time takers from community farming policy and what!ever else it could grab

If France have been positive contributors in more than a single year they have done very well

We now have fifteen new applicants to join and only Sweden looks to have the price the rest will almost certainly be negative contributors

Our present position of strength has been arrived at outside of the common currency

I just need some one, any one to explain how we will be economically better off by joining the Euro

Or tell me how being governed by un-elected decision makers on economy, foreign policy, labour control etc is not being a member of a federated state

The last state of a similar style had its head office in Moscow

I think we would be better of in the EURO because:-

The loss of jobs if we stay out of i1t companies such as Ford who say if we do not join the Euro they could see themselves moving buisness interests such as factories to France and Germany, over 3000 job losses in Britain have been blamed on isolation

The Risk to Future investment is high ! in 1999 Britain attracted 27% of foreign investmant from th EU. Since the Euro was launched it has gone down to 60%

Small buisness such as the Antique buisness attracting less clients due to the flutuating and strength of the pound.

Whatever people say about prices being rounded off alot of things are still far cheaper in countries such as France.

I admit i disagree with the way Europe is sometimes run but Britain are less likely to influence the agenda for the democratic reform within the EU if we ar outside of it!

Theres a start

Lets see if we can put some of this into context

Five years ago Ford went public that they were to close plants in the UK

They made those announcements on a German Director being made President of Ford Europe

You have made an error on percentages and I think you mean down from 27% to 18%, But those figures have been strongly contested

Of course certain things are cheaper in France and that is due to the power of Sterling and the greed via every known form of tax by this particular goverment

As for our influence in Europe the strongest way we can influence Europe is to stay as very strong members of the market and non-existant members of the Federated states of Europe

"This federated States of Europe" I think you will find there is no such organisation. They would to keep the name as Europe.

Figures are always contested even on public marches their is always a diffrence on views of how many turn up! My point being investmant has gone down. Yes i did mean 19% not 60 %.

How having a German President affects moving uk Plants to France i don't understand?!

And what about Nissan and Panisonic who have threatened the same?

He was a German Director of Ford and made Euro President of Ford

The big issue is that Ford made long term plans to downsize UK manufacture nothing to do with Euro coinage

We are still the biggest winner of inward investment in Europe

now look here chaps....this is all nonsence really....

what we need in this country is a good old fashioned Junta ...headed up by Maggie and controlled by the Military whilst at the same time maintaining the monarchy for state visits and tourism......

as well as the occassional scandal in the NOTW....

once the generals take over we can then plan a military invasion of europe...starting with the french and then once they've surrendered (which would take about 24 hours..)

we could take over brussels and Germany and then turn the whole lot into Eurourchins Plc........

get rid of the euro.... install the 'quid' as the euro currency and make everyone speak english........

GHA and Inspector Zeal would become signatories to the cheque books and all policy decisions on money would be made here in my offices.....

bob cratchett would then be brought out of retirement to set up the ministry of disinformation and would set about banning any form of protest or political unrest......

it would be compulsory for urchinettes to pop up on all computer screens every two minutes......

HL would become 'madam'.....

pabird would of course be in charge of the resurrgence of the national front and urchino would assist him...

just to counterbalance opinion.....

given that we would of course be a democracy.......

anyone for french cricket.................

U619, I worked for Nissan and the real reason they like the euro is the fact Renault own 33% of them. Renault would happily close Sunderland down to improve french employment.

Problem being Sunderland is still the most efficient production plant in europe, don't be surprised to see the new Clio or Laguna coming out of Sunderland, euro or no euro.

Truth is the reason Nissan and every manufacturer wants the euro is to simplify and predict supply costs, but then ask them about a common pricing policy for their vehicles accross europe and suddenly it all goes quiet..

Sorry the first reason was for my dislike of Reanult, nasty people! And french too!!

This old chestnut again, AND references to wrinkles, (or wrinkly's ?)

1. Look at the front page of Private Eye this week. That photo says it all.

2. We got stitched up when decimalisation was brought in, in the 70's. Inflation soared.

3. I've hardly found anyone who voted to go into Europe under Ted (The Sailor) Heath, yet we joined.

4. NO-ONE I have asked in the local wants us to join the Euro.

6. The reason Big Tone is back-tracking on a referendum on the Euro, is because the Government know full well, there will be a resounding NON !

7. Why trust a Government when the Deputy to Big Tone, (2 Jags), thinks it's funny to stick two fingers up to the worlds press outside No 10 ?

Bring back Enoch and Winston, I say !!

I like your thinking 619, BUT ask yourself one question !

WHY is the BNP taking so many Council seats these days.

Look at your history in Germany in the 1930's, when that country had major problems after the 1st World War. A small man with a funny moustache appeared........... The rest, as they say, is history !
