Watched panorama last night and again heard a Blairite condemn the older generation as believers in the £ sterling as "they are used to it"

She was a forty something blonde who had never generated a (legal) £1 profit in her life and failed to understand that being the fourth richest nation on earth was achieved by the very people she and the other pro euro!s deride as economically senile

When she or the actual Blair can show solid economical reason why the euro should supercede the pound us simple senior folk will continue to believe that solid economical policy backed and backing the pound sterling will suit us best as individuals whilst retaining our world position

Even their much lauded C-of-the Exch!r gives off the body signs of a very committed anti-Euro man

Please forgive the angry outburst of one who is"used to the pound sterling"

Agree with that Colin the biggest frustration at present is that with raging inflation we the general public gained in wage demands or steep unrelenting house prices

Yes wrong but what did we trade in those gains for:

Steady inflation GOOD

 

NHS services gaining Billions but services worsening BAD

 

Education services worsening, teachers being made redundant classes overcrowded BAD

 

Itegrated transport system?? worsening, BAD

 

Pensions falling behind but for those prepared to spend a day or two attempting new deliberately confusing documentation BAD

 

We have created the wealth and placed it in the hands of the biggest spendthrift government ever led by a pathological egotistical man who would not understand the truth if it smacked him in the mouth

I have to say that I'm on pabirds side here.....in full agreement and more so perhaps....

these gangsters running this great country of ours will not stop until they've systematically looted it........pillaged it.....bankrupted it......and then...........

 

turned it into a satellite state of the 'united states of europe'....elected themselves to the board of directors of 'euro plc' and all moved to brussels to get away from the carnage left behind........

 

the only saving grace for me is that I won't be far behind 'em....in fact I might even get there first....

 

how anyone can be taken in by this lot is totally beyond my comprehension.............

 

you'd all be better off trusting the local neighborhood double glazing salesman.... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />........

First of all i'm shocked at you U-U what has come over you, agreeing with "pabird" something i never hoped to see <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />.

 

I have done my Pro-Euro argument on this to death and know i cannot change anybody on this boards oppinon.

 

What worries me though is that people will vote on the substance of stupid lies by Trashy Tabloid papers about stupid Bent Bananana's and The queens head being on the Euro.

 

Far to High-Brow for me on a Monday Morning <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

 

I will support a person's right to vot against the Euro but i pray it's for economic or political reasons not an Emotional one.

Well 69 you sound as if you watched Panorama last night as you quote them very well

And no I will not be voting for them

PS why do people believe that what we read in the press we swallow hook line and sinker

BEING OVER FIFTY DOES NOT DETERMINE WE LOSE OUR ABILITY TO REASON

and remember it really is arrogant to tell the majority of people in this country that they are thick because they do not wish to enter the Euro zone

firstly the heart of any issue is emotional.....did your team win promotion last year without emotion......

 

as for the queens head.....well she is our queen we are a monarchy and I for one would like it to remain so.....

 

the main issue however is economic........

 

on the 1st January 2000 my bank in spain decided to change all my money from pesetas to euros......they had to.....

 

I lost a small fortune on the exchange rates...so did thousands of others.....I've never forgiven 'em...

 

robbing spanish banks is my holiday pastime now....

 

(joke Inspector).............

 

our economy is thriving and the best in europe.....france germany spain and italy have economies that are flat on their backsides and will remain so.....thats a laymans view but factual.....

 

why do we wanna join up into that......

 

do you want your team back in the ESL......same as...

I didn't say anybody was thick my dear man i was saying that alot of people i speak to who are anti euro say they are because of stories they read in the papers and because of emotional reason!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

 

Your reasons obviously are due to the fact you are worried about the way the country will be affected, fair enough i disagree with you but fair enough!

 

You seem to lack the ability to Reason yourself with this "my way or the highway" attitude

Sorry but U619 has made a very good point here, we should not be emotional about changing our currency.

 

We don't really give a damn about our royalty, if it means that money doesn't have the queens head on it, but it cheaper to buy a house or it improves employment, who cares? Sovereignty is a word that comes up again and again, it means very little to me or anyone else unless the Euro raises it's head.

 

What does matter to me is who takes control, central european control is only destined to fall apart, because you can already see that the whole thing is built around the French German alliance. We can claim to be the fourth biggest economy on the planet, but we'd be in the shadow of a joint French/German economy, and don't doubt that they would look after number one.

 

It doesn't mean that they're out to get us but it does mean that if we needed a sudden change of interest rate, the Euro isn't going to be flexible enough to fit our economy, unless it also benefits other countries at the same time.

 

Rant over, but I am yet to be convinced this is going to be any good for us, I could be convinced though!
