I could say "we were robbed" but, we were not. It was a good open game with both sides having chances. Both Keepers were called into action on many occasions though the Thamesmead lad had the lions share to stop. Jeremy:9, Charley McCarthy 4, Jason McAree 5, Chris Lewis 4. A header over by Aston Smith (who acquitted himself well on his debut) and Joe Taylor rattled the bar.

Unfortunately Thamesmead took one of their chances, on the 38Th? minute of the second 1/2 when a shot was deflected out for a corner which found its way into the net.

It is hard to pick out a man of the match. For me there were many good performances, No one had a bad day. Tom Peachy played well first half before being replaced at the break through injury by Joe Beech, Jeremy,Jason, the tireless Chris Lewis, Gavin( Any striker going one on one with the big man must have Kamikaze tendencies)Wright. It has to be CHARLIE McCARTHY for the quality of his free kicks, chasing back and the timing of his tackles.

We have to realise that we have a very young and therefore in experienced reserve set up, 2/3Rd's of those out there Saturday will play tonight, in the U18 fa youth cup. I have upto now watch all their games and have seen the forward strides these kids are making.

First half today I saw one of our youngest team members play his part against lads 2,3,4 and more years older, not make any mistakes in his central defensive role. This is not the same Child I saw come off the field with a shell shocked expression after the Faversham game.

As is the lot of reserve team management, you make your plans, you pick your squad for the day, you inform the lads whether or not they are playing and Friday or Monday night all is well. By 10-30am Saturday or 5-00pm Tuesday you have 6 left, your team decimated by Illness, Injury or as is more likely 1st team needs. You hit the phone, what are you doing? can you get here? can you get the time off? etc, etc. Results then do not always go your way. In these circumstances I really admire the coaching staff of any reserve team.

Our Reserve Management Team are doing a great Job, Manager Phil Fennel, Assistant Steve Winch, and Trainer Aaron Perry.

When we can play the first choice, or have at least the same team out for more than one game then believe me, "someone is going to get a thrashing".

Graeme.

Great report-thanks.

seems well done all round.

Lots of 'new names'there for me-always interesting to read how they progress.

we always seem to start the reserve season slow ,and improve as side gells.

Sounds promising again-all you really want is by end of season/2/3 of them knocking on the first team door.

thanks for the report, it looks like we have a lot of potential at the club and it will be good to see if they make it through to the first team.
