I wouldn't cross Gavin

so you reckon Gavin would come up trumps against 'mad dod drogba'?

i would have put 'grappling Cardy' in the equation, but he is ineligible

Horace - Admitedly Gavin was, similar to myself, only involved in the very early stages when it was still the Edgware project however the likes of Sal, Steve and Unc disappointingly made no attempt whatsoever to keep him sweet and put their arm around him which is what Gavin needs. There is nobody else I would want next to me in the trenches and Gavin may have been persuaded to stay onboard in some capacity even after the goalposts were moved although, like LATO and his cohorts, I know he doesn't like travelling too far afield to matches.

Gavin was committed to keeping Edgware alive. Early on, Uncle was looking for a ground somewhere near to Edgware for a groundshare, and even asked me if Hertford would be willing to host a revived Edgware. The acrimonious parting of the ways between Gavin and the project

came around the time that the project was moving away from Edgware towards Uncle's mate's new gaff in Bedfordshire. I doubt that Gavin had the remotest interest in helping to set up a club in Bedfordshire, especially one not called Edgware.

Ha Ha - i reckon that is at least 9 individuals insulted and wound up in 2 sentences. Very impressive and a new record for Rhodes surely?!?! :):)

Horace - What was your answer out of interest as I don't believe you had severed ties at Hertingfordbury Park as yet, I know the straw that broke the camel's back for you was when that Chairman in short trousers turned up wanting a groundshare with a Church side.

What do you think my answer was?

Horace - Well I'm sure you were diplomatic when you turned Unc down but I bet you asked him what sort of money he was talking about for a groundshare, if Southill Alexander are paying Biggleswade Town 15k a season as is rumoured then it would have been a nice little earner for cash strapped Hertford Town wouldn't it.

It never got as far as talking money. By the look of it the deal with Biggleswade Town was " mates rates" in reverse! Don't imagine that sort of money would have been on offer to Hertford!

Horace - I can't for the life of me see how Southill Alexander are going to be able to continue paying Biggleswade Town 15k a season in the long term, that would surely stretch a Step 4 or even a Step 3 Club let alone a Club in the lower reaches of the Bedfordshire League playing in front of a handful of spectators. I think they were counting on hitting the ground running this season and winning five or six nil every week which would have been an attractive vehicle to big it up to wide eyed local businesses, invited to the Carlsberg Stadium for some corporate hospitality, that they are a Club going places and partners would see a healthy return on any investment made, the likes of silver tongued Loosely know how to talk the talk but walking the walk is a whole different ball game.

Horace - Well I wouldn't want to see the Club go to the wall however I do fear that they may be heading that way with Loosely cavalierly 'living the dream' Peter Ridsdale style

Back it up with facts Rhodes. What dream am I living Rhodes? Printing, folding, stapling programmes. Washing, drying, folding and packing kit. Cutting up cake, laying it on trays. Setting up the PA System, playing music, announcing teams and officials. Manning the reception door, welcoming teams and officials, showing them the dressing rooms. Pouring teas and coffees, doing the washing up. Being hospitable and occasionally seeing about a third of the game.

You know sweet FA, do sweet FA, and have sweet FA. But I'm living the dream, just not yours you tw&t. lol.
