The final whistle

Just an observation really from results in our league yesterday ( & previously re: Sutton). "The late late show".

I see Sutton did it late again yesterday at Tonbridge.Thats 3 in a row for them. An 89th minute leveller v us at home. A 90th + minute leveller against us in the replay & then a last gasp winner v Tonbridge. This team is currently showing strength all the way to that final whistle & because they are giving it there all to the end it shows me a team that is going for gold (the league championship) & who will probably win it too. OK,some might say they shouldn't be getting themselves into those situations in the first place which would be fair comment.

Dartford may be riding high at the moment but Sutton are fast getting my vote as the likely winners mainly because they don't know how to & won't give in.

Also I note a few other late goals in the RPL yesterday.

Harrow (90) though not a points winner,Dartford with a fourth in the 85th,Hastings a 90th minute equaliser,Ashford (middx) winning away from home in the 90th & Wealdstone scoring a 4th in the 86th. Just shows you it's never over till the final whistle blows...Eh Chris ? ;) ..No matter HOW many minutes are added on.

This was as mentioned just an observation on my part from yesterday, no more..but I can see what you are saying too Tone & agreed upon. A never -say-die attitude for all of the 90 + minutes would be warmly welcomed at this time I'm sure.

Indeed Jake indeed but all too little too late in our case.

Lol, i thought u said it's never too late? :futbolbud2::grin:

I'm happy to see that got you smiling Gareth. :biglaugh: I was actually taking the piss with that comment Gareth rather than intentionally contradicting myself. ( Sorry, I forgot MY smiley). :97:

But being serious again, yes, even WE nearly got a second soon after our 1st & who knows what would have happened had we scored again at that time.

Talking about never-say-die attitudes looks like this topic spilled over to the Manchester derby today.

FT: Man Utd 4 Man City 3

Mark Hughes is furious at the amount of time added time on. Four minutes were signalled but in the end over six minutes were played. City thought they had equalised in the final minute but Owen popped up to put United top - temporarily at least. Surely one of the best Manchester derbies in a long time!

The final whistle goes and United have claimed an unbelievable win!

90 + 6: GOAL - OWEN. Absolutely incredible! In the SIXTH minute of stoppage time, Giggs spots Owen inside the box with a super pass and Owen stabs the ball past Given and United have surely won the game!

90+4: Given punches the corner clear, and Rooney fires over the bar.

90+3: Late, late substitution from United as Michael Carrick replaces Anderson.

90+2: It's not finished yet. Fletcher wins a corner for United.

90+1: United have dominated proceedings but a couple of horrific defensive lapses look like costing them two points and bragging rights.

90: GOAL - BELLAMYUnbelievable. A lazy flick from Ferdinand in midfield costs United possession, and Bellamy races clear, rounds Foster and slots home an equaliser from a tight angle. What a game.

Aaargh.

Having done well to avoid the Man Utd score up until now so it does not ruin match of the day this was the last place I expected to see it.

At least I know it is worth watching!
