Wallace scored to make it 1-0... Leyton went 2-1 up...

2 red cards... one for each side....I'll give you one guess for which ETFC player received an early bath.

Match adandoned due to serious injury to Leyton player.

Obviously more will follow from people who were present.

Firstly here's to a speedy recovery for the Leyton player & hope he is back playing before the end of the season.

As for the game, Town started well & with some more decisive finishing could have gone in at the break three or four up, The Town goal was a peach, a clearence from a corner was volleyed expertly back in by Rudi & Wallace reacted quickest to ram the ball home like a bullet.

Then ensued the usual niggles with Leyton, why?, Rudi was involved with what looked an inocuous challenge that after a clash of heads drew blood from the Leyton player, cue the usual fifteen man melee, with Jonah at the centre of it & the odious Leyton manager hardly covering himself in glory with his verbals that went unpunished by the ref while he brandished yellows all over the place.

Leyton equalised after what seemed a goalkeeping error as the ball appeared to bounce over him from a header, but the i was 90 yards away.

Jonah was then sent off just before half time for what could only have been verbal abuse as the ball was out for a corner & no other player seemed concerned.

The 2nd half started with another niggle between one of our defenders(not sure of names) which resulted in a yellow each, and again Steve Browne offering the ref & lino his advice about 30 yards from his technical area, that again went unpunished, dont remember him being as animated in the 6 months or so when he was with us!

Leyton's 2nd goal came after a parry from our keeper & was nodded back over him, the Leyton player involved in the previous altercation celebrated in the face of one of our players a little too much for the refs likeing & brandished him his second yellow so it was now 10 a side.

The Leyton players injury occured in a challenge for the ball that was nothing untoward & play continued for a minute or so before the realisation of how bad the injury was.

Steve Browne then let himself down big time with a rather embarrasing verbal towards one of our fans.

What is it about games with Leyton that never seem to be straight forward? So the replay will probaly be a Tuesday evening & I can safely say I wont be attending.

I thought Steve Browne was a disgrace with what he shouted out.

I do hope the player gets better soon.

I really think some fans should start looking at themselves as well instead of just criticising others. I was unaware of what was said by SB but some fans were heard to shout 'why is there no stretcher available?' 'Have you not got a medical room?' 'Hurry up and get him of the pitch!'

There was even one guy on his phone saying that the pitch was dangerous and there were pot holes all over the place!

It was preety obvious that when the player went down, and stayed down for a considerable time, that he was seriously injured. So why the stupid comments? As a first aider, you have limits as to what can be done to assist someone in difficulty. The situation was assessed by the physio and she would have done her best to make the player comfortable whilst the paramedics were called for. I really don't know what some supporters wanted Leyton FC to do apart from what they did!

My only thought was that the referee should have abandoned the game a lot sooner than he did.

As for the ETFC sending off. Surely enough is enough?

After the initial altercation between Lokando and Marks, in which both were booked, the two had a second go at each other before the restart and were told by the ref in no uncertain terms "cut it out you two, or you'll both be sent off". After the goal Lokando ran straight across to Marks, laughed in his face and stuck a hand out. Stupid boy.

As one who called for a streacher I can say it was in the hope that Leyton would have half decent facilities for their players including a streacher ( what did the ambulance bring ?? ) and have some for of medical facility.

I fo one did not say hurry up etc as you claim and I did not hear anyone else.

We all wish Perry Burns a speedy recovery from a bad injury.

The points about the poor pitch are in my view correct, even the Leyton keeper nearly came a cropper due to the poor surface.

As for the Ref and a decision.....thought he was out of his depth. Don't know why, but this tie always throws something up. Perhaps the League should think before sending a boy to do a mans job in the middle.

OT - Did I say you shouted out? I don't think I did. Why should I make something up about what I heard? I know I'm getting old and cranky, but even our photographer came over and had to explain to some behind the goal what had happened and why there was no need for some of the comments being made.

From a Leyton supporter on the Isthmian Forum.

Leyton 2 v 1 Enfield Town

Match abandoned on 61 minutes due to Perry Burns of Leyton having a serious leg injury. Possible double fracture.

There was a long delay for the ambulance and then it took around 20 minutes to move him off the pitch. The referee took the decision to abandon the game once the crew said it would take a while to move him. A shame as I'm sure Leyton would have gone on to win, but Perry has to come first.

A fiesty game with 2 players sent off from each side - both I should add for dissent. The injury occured from a challenge between Perry and Stuart Blackburne. The tackle was a full blooded challenge from Stuart, a foul non the less but no mallice intended by Stuart and just one of those things that happen sometimes.

Here's to a quick and speedy recovery for Perry who is a real prospect here.

I therefore feel that the decision not to move him was vindicated.

Can someone say who exactly was booked etc - although the game was abandoned the cards still count and I need to know for the stats

Thanks

Jim

Probaly easier to name those not booked Jim!

Jones x 2, Rudi & Marks is all I can remember at the moment, sure Tom or someone can finish the list off.

Andy - couldn't agree more. I was quite near to the player, and could see how bad his leg was - there's no way that he should have been moved without the right medical staff present (and both physios knew that). The last thing that was needed was for the injury to have been made worse by trying to get him off the pitch too quickly.

To reply to someone else's point, I don't think any club at this level can realistically be expected to have the facilities for dealing with something as bad as this quickly, and get the game restarted. At the top level, there will be doctors paramedics etc. in attendance but expecting this at a Ryman ground isn't realistic, is it? Anyway - all I can say is that I hope he has a speedy recovery, and is back playing before too long.

As for our sending off, it really is starting to get silly now - a player with as much ability as him shouldn't need to talk himself into the book, or make rash challenges. I'm sure the ref must have told him that if there was any more chat, he'd be off, at which point he needed to get his head down, and make sure that we had 11 players for 90 minutes, which would give us a decent chance of winning. I was talking to a Leyton fan, who said exactly the same thing about his time at Leyton - a talented player, but a complete liability.

I was near the dugouts and as the Leyton physio was going on one of their players was already saying 'call an ambulance' - before she'd had a look. Paul Marks then came over and gave our bench more information than I really wanted to hear.
