Mainly for those who are unable to get a copy here are a few things from the local today.

Mentions of:

Margate are targetting 4 more players to complete their team-but they've got to get rid of a few.

Neville Southall likes the way the side are progressing with Paul Nicholls,John Keister,Jamie Lawrence & Steve West adding invaluable experience down the spine.

"Theres 4 players we'd like to bring in but we're wearing handcuffs at the moment". " We were given a budget and we're probably over that budget at the moment and as much as the Chairman would like to,he can't keep sticking his hand in his pockets".

"If we don't shift a few out on loan or permenantly,we'll find it hard to get the ones we want".

"If people go it won't be because they're bad players,it'll be because they don't fit in at the moment".

Speaking about the replay at Sutton he goes on to say:

"Their manager came up to me straight away and apologised,so fair play to him".(re:handball incident plus)

Injuries

Neville mentions that:

"Dan Young faces a month out with a knee injury. Jamie Lawrence has a dislocated toe,Narada Bernard still has an ankle problem & Keiran Morris is looking at another month out with a suspected broken toe".

Horsham Saturday

Southall though Margate were terrific ( v Sutton replay) & he wants to see them spurred on by the sense of injustice when Horsham visit us on Saturday.

He said:

"Over the two games we deserved to go through as much as Sutton did & if there'd been any justice we would have gone through".

"If they (the players) think how bad they felt after the game, then it's about time we made a few teams feel like that, because we've been too easy to beat at times this season".

"Thieves even took the charity boxes, they wrecked the place". "The smashed down doors & even ripped them from their frames. They even had a good drink on us once getting into the bar"

"Drawers were emptied upside down, stuff was thrown about, they forced entry into the drinks machine & pool table but for some reason they didn't take the most valuable piece of equipment at all,the CCTV monitor & recorder"

"It was a stroke of stupidity for them & good luck for us as we instantly showed it to the police & they went straight to their homes & got a lot of the stuff back".

"A 15 year old boy was remanded overnight until being granted bail, facing charges of burglary at Margate FC & also the theft of a wall mounted speaker system from Salmestone School on the same day".

Glad most of the stuff was recovered, because otherwise you've got no chance. The arsewipe that thieved off me was ordered to compensate me £650. That was in 2006. I had one cheque off the court 2yrs ago for £2.74 and one last month for 90p. The whole system is a joke. Who says crime doesn't pay?

I happen to think we've got a pretty good side assembled as it is-certainly mid table.

I cannot see any glaring current weak links-yes some weaker links-but no obvious really weak links these days.

need to stay injury free though;and probably need a couple more games to gel together.

(like another thread suggested a few `weeks ago-you do wonder what the psf's were all about and why we bothered as it looks as though the team by November will have about 7/8 different personnnel to the team s that were assembled in August )

If more assumed quality is going to be added-thats great-are we therefore reaching for the play-offs ?

Is it a season too early for that ?

is there a danger that more additions could cause a bit of disruption to the team and make a few of the existing players a bit unsettled-or will it just strengthen their resolve to play better ?

Do we now need a bit of a settled side (and above all injury free ) ?

I do take nev's pont though-that if all the changes can be made by Christmas-and lets say be then we have 30 odd points-which will probably be 10 points off the play-off positions at that stage-you can really push on in the remaining 18 or so post chritmas games when there are still close to 60 points to be won.

Such a shame about the FA Cup-but it could still be a very very interesting and lively season .

TY and NS doing a really good job on paper-need to turn it into 3 points every game now.
