Thought that might happen. Its a real shame to see him go, he was excellent for us last season. We had one of the best defences last season with Ollie and Mooro as center backs, now Hornchurch have got them. Looks like it'll be hard to get a few past them next season.

It was in the romford recorder too....

Don't think he wanted to stay.... In fact going by what was said in the paper Gary had a job persuading him to see out last season. So far as the Mooro-Ollie partnership goes, we did have a defensively minded team last season - if we'd tried to score more goals we would have conceded more as well! So far as the rest of last season's squad goes Justin has spoken to them all - it remains to be seen which, if any, are around next season.

Well to be honest we didn't exactly have many players left at the end of the season....

There's a vast number of players avaialble to us at the moment - as well as last seaosns squad, Justin has been talking to loads of players who may be what we're looking for..

Now there's a tricky question.

Assuming the league persists with 5 substitutes then 16 players are needed every matchday. A couple of players to cover for injuries and suspensions gives a squad of 18. Another facor is the strength of the reserve side. If you've got players in the ressies who can come in and do a decent job for 5-10 games a season then the pressure is off the 1st team to some extent. I reckon we had a few youngsters who came in 2nd half of last season who would benefit from another season of mostly reserve, but some 1st team footie - I would suggest Gilley, Savidge, Alexander and Fay - all players who can come in for a couple of games and do a job for the team. Realistically we're not going to be able to afford 20+ contact players like C*nv*y or Aldersh*t did last season.

It's always difficult for a new manager to assess his new side when he joins close season like Justin has - he may feel that he can't offer players terms 'til he's had them in for pre-season training. It may be that we have a lot of players on non contract terms at the start of the season - giving them a chance to prove their worth to the side. Either way pre-season is going to be very interesting this year.
