Barry Rake Article in Midweek Obsever

Did anyone see the Barry Rake article in the Slough Observer Midweek edition? He talks about his time with Slough in the Conference days. In the article he states that we won our first Conference game 3-1 before losing to Barnet in midweek. However, i am certain

that the score from the first game was Slough 2 Boston 0, with Steve Thompson scoring a wonder goal after beating three or four oppostion

players. I was at this game and remember it well, maybe some of the older supporters can verify the score?

WR, you have a better memory than Barry! It was 2-0 in front of 1453 people with Thommo and Stanley scoring.

But Barnet did thrash us 6-1 on the Tuesday, in our first ever Conference away game which was a bit of a wake up call to us fans!

Am I remembering this right, or was that the season we won 4-3 away to Stafford Rangers after a certain youthful Stan Collymore had given the hosts a 3-0 lead? I'm sure I heard this story somewhere.

...and muddy! I remember the game & Kevin Mitchell was in goal for us too. I'm sure the Windsor supporters will remember him very well.

Wow! There's a trip down memory lane. That was my first ever trip to Wexham Park. I remember there were supporters as muddy as the players from sliding down the grass banks at the training pitch end.

Now I'll have to keep watching it to see if I can spot a 14 year old me standing there!
