I am not proud of my thoughts, but sometimes 'needs must'.

I can't help wondering whether if Stefans Paynes transfer to Fulham went through on Tuesday as reported-and his subsequent loan back to sutton went through on the same day (as it had to as one had to follow the other )-that all the necessary paperwork was completed correctly and within the necessary timelines.

For example-can you play someone on the same day that you sign them on loan ?

You can't logically loan someone back if the original transfer has not gone through and been ratified.

Was the 'loan back' signature timed after the 'transfer to' signature

Was Payne technically a Fulham registered player at 7.45pm last night ?

Because it was all 'in house' were all forms submitted and counter -signed ,or whatever needs to happen ?

They probably were as its been bubbling for some time;and evil thoughts-yes-but just occasionally - you do have to be a nasty piece of work.

On the other hand as he is recognised as a Sutton player, did everyone just think-'it will be ok',and be a bit complacent over the paperwork ?

Clutching at straws maybe;but if it was at at MFC- i may just minimally consider a polite enquiry to the FA.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but Fulham can't sign anyone at the moment due to the transfer window being closed. I suspect what has happened is that Sutton & Fulham have come to an agreement over a fee, all the paperwork has been signed and the transfer will complete on 1st January, at which point Payne could then be loaned back to Sutton for the rest of the season if Fulham wish.

You are probably correct;but the pragmatist in me (desperation),or maybe simply someone who likes to be assured that things are done correctly;still wonders whether a 'polite enquiry of the FA is called for?

Better people than me who don't expose their inner wickedness on forum postings may chose to decide on that though.

I have no idea how these things are done;but logically to me you would have to in sequence:

cancel a sutton registration with ryman league,

register to fulham with FA,

loan back, and notify Ryman and FA

all to be acknowledged and approved in order .

But i'm just guessing

I am with Michael on this one. Cheats should not be allowed to prosper. If they have inadvertently played an ineligible player, they ought to be punished. If it turns out to be true it will almost make up for that h.h.h,handball i can hardly bring myself to talk about.

For the avoidance of doubt-in absolutely no way am i suggresting that Sutton cheated in either game- ( which i did not see anyway ).

it also seems that Margate and sutton are clubs (and probably supporters) with a healthy respect for each other.

I simply know that sometimes-its hard to get paperwork correct in any business-i have made plenty of '[****!!****]-ups'.

I simply think business is business-nothing 'personal' -and just wonder whether MFC should be seeking quiet re-assurance from the FA and Ryman league that if as reported this slightly more unusual transfer all went through in one day;was every aspect of timelines and procedure strictly adhered to.

It most likely was ; and indeed, i expect that the sutton club secretary (and fulham of course ) is just as experienced and capable as our own ken tomlinson but if there is just a 5% element of doubt/curiousity-should that be pursued ?

As it is-that doubt probably just rests in my sad little old head

Sorry to disappoint but Stefan is still registered with Sutton and not with anyone else and is not on loan with us. If you look, all the stories come from newspapers and fans speculating and nothing has been announced by Sutton or Fulham. Obviously Fulham and Stefan are talking but the transfer window closed to Fulham applies to him too.

I know I'm setting us for a fall, but transfers, loans and international clearance are so complicated these days that we have THREE people at Sutton cross-checking registrations before players turn out for us.

I apologise about the late equaliser but not much I can do about that.

Good luck for the rest of the sesaon.

Thank you for taking the trouble to register on the fans focus forum and responding to niggling doubts.

The reply makes alot of sense to me-and indeed i did use the caveat-'if as reported'.

Is it ever so slightly unusual (albeit refreshing) for a purported club official to take the trouble to respond on a fans forum-particularly that of another club - when such places are normally hives of anonymity ?

If SUFCcosec is who he suggests he/she is (and i actually think he probably is )-although in cyberworld-for all we know -it could be the queen of sheeba; i am curious as to why a 'denial' is posted on this forum ;but the same local newspaper story stating that SP signed for Fulham on tuesday (and loaned back same day )is allowed to run without the same denial on the sutton site.

I guess i'm still clutching at straws-and i suspect all is in order-but as above-if it was me 'in charge'-i'd still be wanting complete reassurances that Payne was correctly registered at the time of playing in the replay.

Was there really time to get this slightly unusaul transfer/loan paperwork all correctly through in the day it is stated as being done ;enabling him to be correctly registered and playing for sutton on tueday night ?

Never trust anyone! Dont take some jonnie come latelys word for it. It ought be checked. I think he is the club secretary also as they do get a bit touchy when challenged. Saying that, no harm in checking officicially. Over to the club!!///

I really do think we are opening an unnecessary can of worms here. If he was ineligible then the paperwork would show that when submitted surely.

Although frustrations at the handball, which their manager has since stated that he felt it was, I do not see any point in winding people up or making enemies.

On the subjectof their managers comments, will this be enough to say that Kesiters' frustration was justified and get the red overturned? Although I don't actually think second yellows can be overturned.
