LUTON'S controversial new owners have whipped up a storm by deciding to change the club's name.

 

 

Loyal Hatters fans are fuming after finding out the club could be renamed London Luton - the same as the local airport.

 

SunSport broke the news to stunned Luton Supporters Club chairman Mark Chapman.

 

He raged: "It's a disgrace. It's like renaming Bolton Wanderers Manchester Bolton.

 

"We are nothing to do with London."

 

Because, obviously, thousands of people are going to travel out of London to that grim Bedfordshire dump to watch 2nd Division football because they've changed their name, aren't they?

I heard rumours that Wimbledon have been set up to fail and Luton will take over their ground in Milton Keynes, interesting idea..

I love a good conspiracy theory... They'll probably end up merging at Milton Keynes and calling themselves "MK Hatters" or something. Never underestimate the ability of the venture capitalist when it comes to destroying heritage and tradition.

Your argument holds a lot of water Steve. When Andrew Ellis and Terry Fenwick took over at Northampton in January, they initially wouldn't rule out selling Sixfields so they could do a groundshare with Wimbledon at Milton Keynes, but when the Council sold Sixfields to English Partnerships, days later both Ellis and Fenwick had left the club. Now who's rumoured to be involved with the Luton takeover...

 

Add to that Pete Winkleman, the man behind bringing a league club to Milton Keynes (any league club!) has been seen meeting with Ellis...

Apparently 6M people in London have already signed a petition saying they don't want Luton to be associated with London at all <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

 

I heard the Sun had a nice picture of Cristina Ag-go-go-lara handcuffed today - although i never saw it.
