Todays Match

The match sounded like a good one on gate radio and it was good to hear the choir making a lot of noise to support the boys. Would love to hear the thoughts from people at the ground. From here I would say despite the scoreline it was Margates best game of the season so far and young Mr Keister definately seemed to bring something that was missing.

nothing to say apart from 2nd game in a row we throw it away , goodish 1st half never came out for the 2nd half Sutton ran the last 45 mins apart from little flourish near the end . Will find it hard to get a win from the replay .

Great to see JK back though giving 110% as per usual .

JK did a marvellous job marshalling the troops and giving training on the hoof. Brought some backbone to the midfield for sure. It's his first game back with us, I would say he will add some more quality as he gets used to playing with the lads.

We were brilliant first half, but then I thought we were going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at the end.

1000 percent improvement from the Cray game, and we are not out of it yet, so onwards and upwards.

Agree with above.1st half an even affair but second half it was all Sutton & its frustrating that we couldn't take the game to them more in that second half..

Felt sorry for Blackman who seemed to be all on his own up front for most of the game.

Our two goals came when we got men in the box (not around the 12 yard area). Sammy Cliffe took his goal very well & did good. Their equaliser from a long ball forward over the top. Lack of pace from our defender & a failure to shrug the guy off the ball allowed them the opportunity to equalise.

.A draw a fair result though some might say we got away with the draw in the end. Having said all that the defence were holding out well until that one through ball over the top. Keister (all but for one noticable error) was majestic!

Conceding in the final seconds of the 1st half didnt help but they were there for the taking and despite their territorial advantage in the 2nd half we were coping

well enough to have held on. Shame, but there you have it. Another crack at it on Tuesday it is.

Considering the score the last time we played them, I thought that it was a marked improvement today. Was great to see John talking to Wayne at the start of the game and throughout he was trying to organise and encourage, this is what Ben Lewis should have been doing from the start of the season.

Thought things started to change when Dan Young went off injured.

Really hoped that we would hold on at the end, but that's Gate luck for you.

Also felt that Jo Healy worked really hard today as did Sammy Cliffe who never gave up. For me the verdict is still out on both West and Blackman as feel that don't alwyas give it there all, but guess time will tell.

Lets hope we can build on today and take the game to Sutton on Tuesday night.

Great support from the Choir today, well done lads.

Bit of a strange game really. Scoreline suggests it was an entertaining game but it was far from that. Two poor teams really: we weren't great but they weren't either. How on earth we ever got thumped by them I will never know! Probably scored from our only two chances of the game - 2 well-worked goals - and Nicholls did pull off a couple of very good saves. Must admit, I couldn't see the equaliser coming and thought we would snatch the win. But, all in all, a draw probably was a fair result and, as Michael said earlier, I didn't really expect anything from the game, so probably should be content with another chance on Tuesday. Still, very disappointing to throw away another two-goal lead. Can't see us progressing now in all honesty.

But hopefully a draw against one of the early season favourites should boost the lads ahead of a must-win next week.

I think the biggest problem we have at the moment is playing the same 11 players for more than one match. They just don't seem to have gelled as a team yet. JK was working his socks off at the back teling players what to do but they need to have the confidence to do what he is asking. I was sat in the stand and he was constantly telling them to move forward but they were reluctant to do so when they had an opponent near them. This resulted in them moving back all the time when the opposition were going forward meaning they were constantly playing them onside. Apart from a couple of times in the box there were not many offsides given against them. I know he scored, but I was surprised that Cliff came on instead of Smith after Young went off. I thought we needed someone a lot bigger and taller there to stop them muscling in, as they have some big lads. Another disappointing win, but as my last game was at Sutton a much improved performance.

Just read that their equaliser came in injury time .

Now i am disappointed .aaaaarggghhhh

Wrong they scored on 43'43" and the full playing time for the second half was 52'53"

I was disappointed at the time wasting going on today also. Why Nicholls thinks it necessary to waste time straight after half time beats me. Some of the crowd were whistling at 4.50 and we still had 6 minutes of NORMAL time to go. And why were players so late out at half time?

Things sounded better on Gate radio like I say but I think the club need to give the captaincy to J.K. His experience is going to be invaluable with a young team and hopefully when Lawrence is fit again they can bring the standard right up.

I read that Smith came on for Millington-did Smith then play in defensive midfield -and how did that work out.

As Wellsie would ask -'what are your thoughts' ?

I see that there was no goalkeeper sub today-interesting-and indeed-are'nt you allowed 7 subs in FA CUP-but TY chose to go with 5 only-not that i see it matters if you can only play 3 anyway.

Not having a sub goalie was an interesting decision though-maybe forced upon TY through injury?

As many pros as cons yesterday i thought.

Keister was superb, bossing the boys about and generally pulling things together. Shame he had to drop back into defence after Dans injury but still did pretty much everything right.

Nicholls made some excellent saves and looks to be the genuine article, vocal and confident.

Great to Sammy Cliff getting his chance and worked really hard for the team.

Now the downside, Wilson still seems totally lost even with Keister along side him, no control and no composure. Seems to play 90% of his passes blind and very rarely seems to challenge for the ball.

Steve West seems to win the headers but doesn't seem to do alot else, he'll get the flick on but then seems to stop as if his work is done when he should be following up to support the player hes released. Good strike from the free-kick though.

As for Millington???

So frustrating-just when it seemed to be getting sorted in midfield ,Lawrence goes and gets injured-did i read broken toe and thus probably out for 2 months -

So still one short in midfield-would have loved to have seen a midfield of Lawrence, kesiter, healey and wilson.

Morris hopefully fit in a couple of weeks to give midfield/defensive options-and maybe Corbishley by end of the month ?

Does any one know if Aaron Beech is still on the scene-seemed to offer us some quality midfield options.

i thought he was a bit of a 'luxury' player-and never did it for me therefore-but out of interest-does anyone know if bernard is still 'on the scene' ?
