I hate to point out the obvious, but the lack of midfield support for Wilson came from playing a formation where there was only one other player in the midfield. Changing the formation to 4-4-2 from the 5-2-3 we were playing means that there are more players in midfield to support him...

I understand what you are saying, and i perhaps ought to have emphasised its central midfield where i feel we remain light in numbers and pssibly quality.

 

Previously we have had wilson battling out central midfield on his own;(albeit the good move of having anyone of Smith, robinson or lewis playing deep midfield just in front of the defence-which should have worked -but did'nt )and on saturday we had Lawrence battling out central midfield on his own with a bit of asistance from millington.

wilson and healey out wide so not used to their best effect

Too light in numbers to enable them to really boss the midfield area and seize control of the game.
