Perhaps not our modern cup heritage, but you go back to the 50's and early 60's and there weren't many better non league sides in the FA Cup. And yes, as the piece says, Nev is the central character.

Wellsie sorry it was tongue in cheek. I did read the piece and am proud that the focus is on Margate through big Nev, any chance to push the club should be grabbed with both hands. Maybe I should cut out the attempts at humour, I'm sure the club have worked very very hard at this.

Having a search around, though, in that PNE game one Jimmy Ross got 7 but in 1922 in a qualifying round tie Billy Minter hit seven for St.Albans City against Dulwich Hamlet. Believe it or not Dulwich Hamlet won the tie 8-7!

FreeFred, Margate FC has one of the best records of any non-league club in the FA Cup. One other point, although it's true that Ted McDougall scored 9 against us (I was there to see it)a player scored 10 for Stockbridge Park Steels in a 17-0 win in one of the qualifying rounds just a few years ago.

Again Jeremy it was said with tongue firmly in cheek. I have supported Margate all my life, although I am only catching up on the history of the club now through Jeff's site. I fully admit I dont know as much about the club as others here, just trying to have a little fun not cause trouble.

What a fantastic coup for the club. It could add at least 100 onto the gate. How important is it now to get a result tomorrow, what a great opportunity to get our season back on course.
