Ok I know this does not affect margate but I think as passionate football supporters I want to hear your opinions on this story.

I would say serves em right, but only if other dodgy transfer practises were punished as well. How many times do teams "tap up" players which seems to the teams whose players are being tapped up to be just as bad.

I tend to agree FF but no doubt the appeal will succeed and the punishment watered down but as I am not a chelsea supporter I think this is indicative of all the sharp pratices that occur in the premier league no doubt if it was my club (although of course I am a true gate supporter) I would have a different view, good debate though

Maybe now, they will have to give a chance to some of those expensive reserves.

Reading into it futher, I now notice that it seems to come down into a difference between how academies are run here and abtroad, with the french system obly having an implied contract with kids 16 and under. Could anyone enlighten me as to what the system is in England? Could someone who has represented their club through the youth system be "encouraged" to just go somewhere else or are there stops in place to stop this happening?

The only problem is hammers paid for their rules break 2 or 3 times Coxy and Man United didnt despite having the same player on the same type of contract. This is to my recollection, the first time that a "big" club has been hit in this way. and before you compalin about my reference to hammers not being a big club I'm a West Ham supporter too.
