How about talking football

Recommended Posts

I came on to this site because of the possibility to talk non-league football.

Its a disgrace, each topic starts with the footballing matter it relates to, and within a couple of reply's its a slanging match, I do not want to hear about arson and about libel and who said what to who.

Lets keep it to facts and to football. Follow your team, be proud of your team, but I for one have had enough of "my dad is bigger than your dad [****!!****]" because that is what it sounds like. I hope it's all adults here so please act like it. Get this forum to what it's ment to be.

True, there are many threads which wander "off-topic", but you can also talk non-league football here, in minute detail if you want to. There are many threads, if you don't much fancy a thread, just leave it be. I am personally always wary of forum newbs who appear and start telling the rest of the posters what the forum is all about, or what it should be like. It's a forum, not an information board. And as for facts - what are those in football, with the exception of the result of the game?

Amerste - I couldn't agree with you more, clearly Hollie feels the same as you going by her recent posts and she appears to have deserted the Forum however I don't believe the breakaway one is the answer as it makes the Marie Celeste seem like Oxford Street on a Saturday afternoon in comparison. What the Moderators need to do is get rid of Keeps who rarely, if at all, talks about football, he's more interested in messaging people's wives on Facebook to obtain personal information so as to post it on here.

Amerste - What do you think of my prediction so far that the Championship will be all over bar the shouting by Easter, it's already looking that way isn't it.

Without having league fixtures in advance its still a hard shout. The end of this month should tell a story with Aylesbury playing both Dunstable and Tring. Aylesbury, defensively look quite strong with only one goal against in all competitions up to now.

The main players don't appear to have got into gear yet. Aylesbury and Dunstable need to make hay whilst the sun shines. Once the likes of Harefield, Chalfont, Hertford and Brimsdown get their acts together it could all change. However, it is likely (for whatever reason) that one or more of those won't perform this season. Langford have yet to get into gear as well.

It's wide open at the moment in my view and anyone could step in and take up the cudgels...if they had the savvy or the wherewithall. We saw last season that you can afford to lose quite a few points and still be challenging for the title come April. Plenty of player changes to be made yet and the annual autumn revolving door will be interesting to monitor.

Agree it's very early in the season and as yet very open, but the fact Aylesbury have played both Harefield and Chalfont and come away with the points along with a 6-0 drubbing of Langford in the FA cup could prove the tipsters wrong. I think Dunstable have a couple of hard games this month which will alter the table as well.

Broxbourne are still looking good at this point. The prem is looking like a strong league this year. Royston won't be far away & it's only a matter of time before Chalfont, Brimsdown, Hertford & Samuel's Hares find their feet & hit a decent run.

It makes you wonder what Royston could have achieved this season had they managed to hold on to Craig Hammond, they would have certainly pushed Aylesbury FC all the way but now it looks like a one horse race.

is that the same one horse race ran by Harefield last season, before losing out to Biggleswade Town on the finishing line ?

Utter garbage Cliff & you know it. The seasons 5 games old & there's 3 teams top with 13 points, exactly cut & dried is it ?Stop posting [****!!****] to get responses & make a nice change by posting fact rather than speculation.

THIS POST WAS MADE ON BEHALF OF THE ANTI-RHODES BULLY BOY PARTY

as least it is football related !

I would just like to add to this thread, that this time last year, I was making posts against the Anti-Rhodes brigade & I was supportive of him. We've met a few times at games & when the initial Edgware project was going on, & I've enjoyed his company & he does know his football.
That said, why does he act like a complete pillock when he gets in front of a pc ? When he starts attacking my friends & my club, then I believe I have a right to answer back & fight my corner. If someone does do something underhand, how do we know that it isn't down to years of garbage posted & attacking people, that they've had enough & have decided to fight back.
Rhodes has had some pretty private things discussed on here & maybe now would have been the time to lie down low & re-evaluate things. Not still to come on casting speculation here, there & everywhere, when his laundry has been displayed on an ope forum !

I guess that's the difference between me and other members such as Nellie, Special1 and Loosely for example in that I just take it on the chin as was the case with Richard193's uncalled for abuse a few days ago, if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Lets all try to get along from now on, Nellie included, and talk purely about football as was suggested by Amerste in his post yesterday.

Shame you didn't feel like that a year ago Syd.

When this forum was first set up (think I was the one who first asked Ian_W to create it when Ryman Div Two was disbanded), most of the talk was football with some friendly banter included. After a few months it became Rhodes's plaything, but the rest of the posters gave as good as they got, and he obviously enjoyed the attention and notoriety it gained him. It became one of the most visited forums. The Uncle Urchin found it. He championed Rhodes, saying on one hand that he was the greatest wind up merchant ever, and on the other that the rest of us were bullying him when we had a go back at the rubbish he posted.

At one point Rhodes said he would give up the forum (as he was ruining it for the rest of us) if a vote said he should go. He was voted to stay purely because of UU's friends from Essex & Hornchurch coming in to vote for him.

Then Ian_W created the Global Moderator position - low & behold, a friend of UU. Soon, posts were being indiscriminately deleted and users banned if they said anything against UU's golden boy Rhodes. The "breakaway" SSML forum was set up and the majority of original posters who just wanted to talk football moved to it, The thread "moderating on FF" became very popular.

Ian_W eventually realised what the GM was up to and got rid, but the damage to this forum had already been done, and I'm sure you can understand now, when the boot is on the other foot, why we have a grudge against UU and his cronies, and why Rhodes and his then supporters will not be welcome at the new place.

Yes, personal things were said about Rhodes, but then he had already said personal things about most of the rest of us.

The "breakaway" forum is doing very well. The only reason it doesn't get as many posts as this is because Rhodes is not there so there is no rubbish to sort through. Genuine SSML people are most welcome to join us. The only part non members can see is the open forum which is mainly just results, but there are several other sub forums visible only to members.
