went to watch the reserves in the capital league tonight - all i can say is why hasn't Harrison featured in the 1st team squad, he was excellent tonight and dominated the game from left mid, i may never go to another 1st team game if i can get this level of quality football at a fraction of the price! whens the next game!!!!

I enjoyed the game and agree that Harrison was the stand-out performer for Billericay (their 9 looked quite useful too). You do have to remember though that there is quite a gulf between the Capital League and the Ryman Prem.

I must admit I was a bit surprised that we haven't taken the opportunity to give the likes of Hamilton and Muir (and maybe some others) a run-out in the reserves yet. I didn't see Brian or Barry at the game frown but I'm sure John will fill them in where necessary......

I think Mike Marsh bagged "a brace" and Harrsion scored the other one (but don't quote me on that)

To be totally honest i dont think that the performances in the Reserves get taken note of much anyways. I didnt see Brian or Barry at the game which further cements this claim.

There have been many good performers in the Capital League and on a consistent basis but they dont really seem to get given a good opportunity in the 1st team. The likes of Harrison, Luca, Jack West, Sam West and a few others have been putting in very good performances for the reserves for the past year but between them have only made very limited appearances and given very limited chances to impress at the higher level.

Sorry jmez but that's rubbish, the names you mention train with the first team, so brian and barry see them perform twice weekly at least.

Of course they only get limited chances to impress; we're not likely to drop one of our strikers just so luca gets a chance to impress. (I used luca as an example)

Its hard for these young lads, they want to play, but they have to be patient if they are to progress. Becoming a star in the Capital league side is a great start and they should embrace it.

Ji it would be very interesting to see how, "the gulf" was handled by the 1st team if they play the likes of bishop stortford who are a blue square side, now that would be interesting!!! also i agree why arnt the players you mentioned playing in the reserves, it beats me! i thought this league was for 18s and non playing 1st team players to get fit with no pressure? as i said Chatting for me is an outstanding player and on that form will get you goals, i think he has been over looked, ive seen him 2 or 3 times warm up with the 1st team squad and not be on the bench but to get changed and sit in the crowd?

???, forgive me if I have missed something, but what has Bishops Stortford got to do with us, Or are you referring to capital league sides.

Harrison, like others, is a good prospect, and one we are are nurchuring, he has already progressed from youth to senior status. He is beginning to shine in our capital league side and he should, IMO, embrace this, because this is the next stepping stone to bigger and better things.

Certain players didn't take part last night because they may be called upon to take part on Saturday...which is a further stepping stone.

I hope that's answered all your questions brucie, if not, feel free to ask again.

TC.. you missed 'the gulf' statement by Ji, i used stortford as an example, they could be playing many 1st team players in the capital league, and we probably wont, and as a blue square club will that game be a gulf in the opposite direction, you get the drift! - i also thought that players like Muir who hasn't taken to the field in the Ryman prem this season would be able to get MATCH FIT which imo is different to a training season, is there anyone else who thinks this or am i on my own? at higher levels all players that don't make the bench or get on in games play reserve games! TC true or false?????

OK, so you were referring to the Capital league sides. If when we meet them and we have mainly U18's and they have 1st teamers, then yes, you would expect a "gulf".

But we would hope that a game like that would further progress the younger lads, which is our aim with the capital league, (Youth progression) and the final score would be irrelevant.

With regards to fringe first teamer's not taking part in 'this weeks' Capital League game, I did answer it above, but to expand...a number of the first team squad are carrying knocks, we're also missing one player this weekend, therefore the Gaffer didn't want to run the risk of losing any more players.

"at higher levels all players that don't make the bench or get on in games play reserve games! TC true or false?????"

A big fat False... if you are making an apples for apples comparison. I can safely say that not ALL players who didn't play or make the bench, played in their respective teams next reserve game.

Tc... this is what i was referring to when i mentioned Bishop Stortford who play at a higher level than the Rymans Prem. when we play that fixture would the gulf be the other way - IMO i think the capital league is a very strong league full of 1st team players and if our youngsters shine in these games then its a credit to the club and shouldn't be dismissed as by the likes of JI?

Regarding the players not used this week in the reserves ill agree that if we have others with knocks then precaution is probably the right thing, but i would like to see a handful of 1st team players in the side to bring the young ones on from time to time

and finally... regarding 1st team players not playing reserve games - i was stating if a player hasn't featured or played for the 1st team over a period of a few weeks he could play a reserve game to keep his match fitness up
