Wayne wasn't getting first team football, that is why he left, and that's why Dumas is available for loan also, Jamie Billy, Dave and Jo all play first team football, week in and week out, not sure why they would want to leave?

The league table doesn't lie, and we do need goals, which, im sure will come, we all need to be patient, we have lost 2 games, it's not the end of the season, especially seeing as there is only 4 points between us and 5th place.

It is a shame to see players go, especially those that have been loyal to the club over the past couple of seasons but I think it fair to say that, no matter how loyal they are or were, they will leave eventually, for whatever reason. And loyalty is only part of a trade off as long as the player is getting what he wants. Players stay for their own reasons. Billy and Joe all are involved with the first team and are getting games, so I would be very surprised if they went. Ashley is another matter....

...but it seems a little bit of a knee jerk on some players part to start demanding to leave just because they are not involved at this stage of the season...it's going to be a long season and players get injured or lose form and those players that are waiting to play will have their chance and they have to take that chance when it arises. To win the league or promotion, you need to have a squad that are willing to support each other, playing or not but I do understand the frustration, especially when you look at the league table.

I have no doubts that we have a talented squad which has quite a lot of depth and I am sure that the position we find ourselves in will be reversed, frustrating though it is (my frustartion was vented in the Boreham "link" because I am confiedent the team has more to give and can do better).

It is early days and we have a new squad of players who, maybe, have yet to "gel". Brian Statham did say "be patient"...and we will have to be to see the team realise it's potential, which is not, I am sure, 17th in the league.

we have changed the core of the side and any person who watches football should know this is the most important structure, you can bring in better or stronger players but the core has got to be strong, by saying core im talking keeper, 2 centre backs, 2 centre midfielders and 2 strikers, so out of 7 players we have 4/5 new players in these positions and this is the time consuming element for the core to gel!

I am not sure what you are watching Blutone but on performances I would not say that our core was massively inferior to what we have now.

We had some quality at the club last season, the likes of gameo, garness, Hodges, Deane, Heffer, McSweeney fully fit and properly managed would stroll in to our team this season. We had too many injuries, a lack of ideas coming from the management team last year and maybe lacked a playmaker like Shin, thats why we struggled. 6 points from 6 games does not lead me to think this season will be any different and definetely doesn't lead me to believe that we have a massively superior core to last year.

Are you two lovebirds (Norbert & Bluetone)at it again grin

Norbert, you also forgot Alalie, Beale, Clary, Henery, Higgins, Ketchell, Trott, Smith, and Docker. But, Blue tones post and opinion was in answer to brucie and his comment about the "core 7 players" it was nothing to do with the number of players who made a start at one time or another during the 08-09 season.

This is just my opinion Patriot, time will tell, defensivly I think we look a lot more solid than we did last season, I can't see Canvey sticking Eight past us, or teams smashing in Five's this term...he say's with fingers crossed

Patriot...the key words are "fully fit"...they were not, especially Gameo, who played one game last season so how the hell you can include him (true, he was at the club).

How the hell can anyone make a judgement call from 6 games is beyond me but there you go. Some have the patience of a child. Sometimes you have to wait for the good stuff, especially with a new team but I believe it will come.

There is plenty of the season to go.

If I think back to last season, then I think of numerous dire performances. We flirted with the play-offs and we flirted with relegation. That's not say we had poor players (although there were some!) or a dire team (at times it felt like it though!). We had some good players and on paper a useful side if fit. This season I see genuine hope. I see IMHO, a more than decent side. I don't see players taking the pith with injuries standing around the touchline laughing their knackers off taking the club for a ride. I see a team with more than decent strength in depth. I don't see players sulking or having a pop at supporters. I see the last 55 minutes of football we played was poor. I'll stick by my prediction of top 5.

Good luck to Wayne... I think a move will probably help him as he needs to try and get regular football in a settled position - something he's never really managed here.

Personally I never get sentimental about players - they come and go all the time. I certainly don't miss the departees from last year's squad. We were poor on Monday, but we never threw in the towel in the way that we did on bank holiday monday last season. We can debate the talent issue until the cows come home, but I am not in the least bit disappointed that the squad that capitulated so tamely against Canvey (twice), Hastings, Harrow, Concord, Ashford, Harlow etc etc has been broken up.

I might be more worried about the quality of those that had gone if they were getting snatched up by clubs further up the pyramid. Most have gone down a level or 2, or are playing reserve team football.

this debate is going nowhere! as i said the 'core' has changed and it will and is taking time to gel! im not slagging the players they are quality but changing this amount of personnel the understanding doesn't happen overnight, look at man city!! just starting to understand each other
