Boreham Wood 2 Billericay 0

Recommended Posts

Well I think that was our worst display so far.We had two changes from Saturday. Dumas at"left back' with Cousins moving to replace Oates in the centre of defense, and Baker added to the attack in place of Manuella. We conceded a penalty due to two errors, the first by Yiga doing a Carlton Cole. Then just before half time the defence went missing.Other than that,in the first half we looked sharp and could have been luckier with a couple of half chances. Joe Flack played his socks off throughout.During the second half Yiga was replaced by Sullivan(not a good move) and Bricknell replaced Wareham. We hardly created a chance in the second half except for one good save by Tony Tucker.Boreham Wood were well in control and won most 50/50 balls, looked dangerous without really troubling Walker.

First poor performance of the season. Flack was the only player to come out of the game with much credit. Tucker was only made to make one real save, and that was a deflected shot. We were poor all over the park really.

Why is Baker starting ahead of Bricknell? Billy hasnt had the greatest start to the season, but has bags of talent and for me offers a lot more than Baker.

Wood looked a good outfit, its a shame for them that so few people come to watch.

One to forget, roll on Saturday

I thought we were terrible today but agree it's our first real shocker.

I completely disagree with the two above posters. I thought Flackie had his worst game of the season (although he was not alone) and I thought Baker was probably our best player.

Hopefully we'll revert to plan A and get Sullivan and Knight back in. We need cover at centre half as we don't have a natural right sider there apart from Oates who imo we missed very badly.

Hopefully we can pick up some points soon as it's not been a good start.

Come on you Blues!

I think it fair to say that what we saw this afternoon was not complete rubbish, well, not for some of the first half...The second half however...well...at times we were chasing shadows. I would say it would be unfair to pick any player (good or bad) out of the shambles of this afternoon.

We are now 17th, although the gap between us and 5th place is only four points...and ten between us and the top spot...but if we are to achieve our promise and potential, we need to stop fannying about and start dominating teams, which means scoring goals and winning points.

On the subject of the league table, I know it is early days but, we're about the same form wise as Wabbey!!!

Lost the game in the first half, of which we dominated, thanks to two cases of urine poor defending. Second half was mostly sun-bathing time of which the players joined in and the game had a definate end of season feel to it. Not quite sure what it is, but one win in six, 4 goals and 3 blanks isn't a good return and our worst start to a season since the ill-fated 2003/04. Not time to hit the panic button just yet but I'd be looking for a massive response against Tooting on Saturday.

After playing 75 minutes with 10 men against a good, football playing side who probably left us shattered by the end of the game, I wasn't expecting to go into today's game, 2 days later and give a good performance, although, what I was hoping for was some fight and determination from all the players, which didn't seem to happen either.

I don't think anyone had a good game, I think we definately missed Oates in defence today, and 2 mistakes in our defensive area led to them scoring both their goals.

I think the best player on the pitch today was probably James Baker, he might be a bit slow, but he holds the ball up well, chases the ball down and wins the headers.

Definately not a good start to the season, and we do need to start winning, but last season and the season before we started well, and ended poor, I don't see why people are now bringing up the management this soon into the season?

After the achievements of the Tonbridge game it was just a shame we could not carry some of that belief into yesterday. Never mind, early days (so far) but i hope the lads get a rocket up them as "if" we are to be considered a "possible" top 5 team we need to be far more ruthless.

Agree that Baker had a good game and i think Dorms was working too hard in midfield (imo).

Can we just score some goals now please grin

i did state during pre season that we are going to finish in 10th position having watched all games so far my opinion has not changed not good enough in defence and strikers need looking at playing mediocre teams during pre season did not help in preperation for the start ofleague i hope we improve but doubtful

I'm shocked at some of the comments on here regarding getting rid of players and management, I can only presume they didn't see any Billericay matches over the pas 2 years.

We've not only changed management and alot of players but also our style of play so of course its going to take time for it all to click. I've been encouraged by what I've seen so far and all we really need to do is start scoring goals as the defence has looked pretty solid.

I agree !

Even though we are not firing on all cylinders (yet) i am heartened by the style of football.

In a way i am pleased we have not started out of the blocks as the expectation levels rise. Sounds daft seeing as the position (in the table) we are but i quietly believe we will adjust. Remember when 3 years ago we went on a run just after Xmas and just missed out that year. That is the beauty of non league, things can (and do) change.

Cmon The Town ! smile

I am sorry but I must be missing something. I can't believe that some are saying they are pleased we are struggling! Have a missed the point of the game?

I also can't see how we can be heartened by the style of football, we looked awful on Monday, no passion or flair which is a huge concern so early on in the season. At two down you expect a real fight to get back in the game, where was that? We just don't have a player that inspires and picks up the team and can change a game.

I know the heated feelings over people like Gameo & Shavinho but at least they would come on and fire the team up and chase everything (can't believe I just praised Shave!), we really miss that sort of player. The subs made just didn't make any difference on Monday.

It is very early days and I am not going to start calling for heads of players or management but we have drawn with Wabbey, lost to Boreham and sitting near the bottom before we start playing any of the so called 'big clubs'. If we don't win Sat and get knocked out FA cup the following week I think Statham will struggle to get fans to keep their patience.

Sorry to be so negative but for the past couple of years we have struggled whilst being exposed to some truly terrible football, I really don't want another year like that.

I'm not a Billericay supporter but surely your club deserves a better manager than Statham, when he was announced a few months ago it was a huge anti-climax. From what I've seen his new signings are average at best. Bricknell was tauted as the next big thing in terms of signing for a pro club, now he looks to be 3rd choice striker in Statham's mind. Stripping Jamie Dormer of the captaincy after X amount of years was a bizarre decision to say the least, when I've seen him play in the past he seemed to me to be a natural leader

If you are not a Billericay Supporter why would you worry who's our manager and who he pick

First time I've posted but as a long term Blues fan and a regular viewer of these postings I really am suprised about some of the comments this season.

We have got a good squad with a mix of experience and youth. The defence is strong and Wiles and Oates get on with the job of doing what they are supposed to do. Dorms and Shinn are getting a good understanding going and we have three good forwards who on their day can and will score freely. If you want enthusiasm then Davey Wareham will chase all day and Russell does not give up.

It will come good and there is no point in being too negative - we've got a good manager and chairman behind the team.

My negative -sitting about 10 yards from the Manuella assault on Saturday he should go, we don't need stuff like that from someone wearing a blue shirt.

If you are not a Billericay Supporter why would you worry who's our manager and who he picks, and as a non Billericay supporter what you think is irrelevant to us

Ultimately it's a shame seeing a good club with good fans having another mediocre season

"Mediocre season"

Six games in !

Has pressure to deliver instantanous results already filtered down to our level - I thought instantaneous results were applicable to all the arm chair fans of prem clubs calling for the managers heads after a few games grin

I agree that no-one wants a "mediocre" season - However 6 games in i think my patience levels are still intact enough.

All i want to see is 11 players on the field giving their best for the club..anything else is a bonus - so 1st round FA Cup draw away at Notts County will do as the bonus grin, however we got to get past you guys first eek
