Cheers to everyone for the good comments about the forum Away update forum today, suggestions have been taken on board and hopefully it's all been updated now to suit most of the things people have asked for, however I have to apologise that anyone who signed up today will have to do so again for next time, but I promise they won't have to again!

Very poor first half. Less said about it the better. Much better second half. Probably had enough chances to win 2 or 3 games. Mind you, how often have we said that in the past? Think we're going to be a team who has some strange results this year. Probably get some impressive wins (see: Aveley away) and also get a few drubbings (see: all three of our defeats so far). So it means we'll probably fit right in in this league then! Can see it being another peculiar league again this year.

Can also see why Harrow score a lot and concede a lot: looked quite good going forward but atrocious at the back and, on another day, we would have put 4 past them in the second half. No disrespect to Langiano as I appreciate that he was playing out of position, but I think it showed yesterday how integral Lacy is to the team. Not only for his threat with his long throws, but also for his solid defensive duties. Could have done with him - or even Morris - giving their tricky winger a kick up in the air early on in the game and keep him quiet for the rest of it. Not pretty, but that's how things work at this level.

Anyway, one to put away and forget about. Chin up lads, confident you can get three points on Monday!

Whilst this defeat is now somewhat historic, i've just got back from the game ,and thought it relevant to post a few jottings as many of saturdays shortcomings appear to be there in yesterdays performance aswell.

In the main, i believe Chris' report on the game on the main site and postings above, reflect the game quite accurately ,and simply add the following :

I am not one for massive emotional outbursts and generally accept that in football you have good and bad days, but for me-saturdays performance was one of the worst i have seen from players and management team combined.

Easy to be wise in hindsight, and we were injury riddled, but it was very very poor on saturday.

That given-we did hold our own for 20 mins which just shows the importance of the first goal in most games.

The harrow third goal was a clear own goal by Ben Lewis-the shot was narrowly going wide but Ben unluckily deflected it past Nichols after their player easily beat haverson(who otherwise played well and to be fair-was trying to avoid conceding a penalty and thus the half hearted challenge) )

Unlike most-i did not think we were much better in the second half-although Pratt had a golden oportunity to equalise when cleanly through, one on one with keeper and time on his side in the 46th minute which he failed to capitalise on.

So what were the LEARNINGS:

a)We cannot give away penalties and free kicks in and around the box (first two goals).Unfortunately, young players make more mistakes, panic and give away penalties and free kicks

b)Liagano cannot play right back where he was forced to play after 10 minutes as we were exposed on that flank.(had the management team done any homework on their side and capabilities)

c)Ben Lewis cannot play right sided defender either

Liagano and lewis combined could not cope with their winger-KK.

(in second half Young went to right sided defender and did ok which is probably why he played there on monday.

d)Ben Lewis is much too slow to play in midfield where he played in second half to no effect whatsoever.

e)Ben Lewis is ok as central defender-he does ok there-but it is his one position so thats where he must play.

I also suspect he is exactly the type of player we will need over the winter months on ropey pitches and for those wet november tuesday nights in essex

f)Wilson is not a one man midfield-he needs help to get the best out of him.We need a quality CENTRAL midfield player to help Wilson.

(we never at any stage had any semblance of control in midfield which is why we lost the game)

g)we remain poor at defending free kicks-second goal-backpost header-chap unmarked.

h)Bernard was criticised for his work rate (lack of ) in his first game.I saw him against Boreham wood and thought he just about put in a full shift.Against harrow he did not-work rate was abysmal.

Its what i have against these widemen types-look ok going forward but are rarely involved in the game and so in effect you end up playing with 10 players only.Bernard needs to quadruple his workrate to justify his position.

See comments re:Lewis and the converse-how useful will Bernard be on those wet windy tueday nights in essex without the sun on his back, on a pitch like a ploughed field ?

What concerns me is that we knew most of the above points anyway-and ok-you don't get it right all at once-but its a case of same old, same old-which is getting a bit worrying.

Yes-there were injuries and we were playing probably our 5th choice right back ,but it still was not TY's finest hour by a long chalk.
