Long time no speak!

Not sure if any of you remember me, but thought I'd stick my head in and say hello to you all anyway!

For those who are struggling with their memories (or who have absolutely no idea who I am) then allow me to introduce myself; My name is Lee Robson and I've supported ETFC since their formation, and of course supported the once mighty EFC during the 90's.

However, I joined the Army in 2006 and was promptly posted to Germany with 2 Medical Regiment - which therefore made it rather difficult for me to attend Town games - although I do manage to every so often when I'm at home on leave in the UK! Therefore, my only source of update for the Town is via the internet if and when I can get access.

Anyway. I'm currently writing this email to you from Afghanistan, whilst sitting in an old school building we're using as a patrol base. The magic of satellites hey!?

But why do I write on here instead of to my family and friends? Well, during our down time, the conversation usually heads towards football (and other subjects you can probably imagine) and I almost always bring up Enfield Town. Many people don't know who they are, so I give them a lecture on the delights of non-league football. Now, because I've talked about the Town so often, there is a plan in place for myself and several of my colleagues to come and watch a match in about 3 months time when our tour of Afghan has finished and we're on leave - so it would be pretty good to see some of the old faces I haven't spoken to in a while.

I've spoken to the club about this idea, and kindly they have also agreed to send a signed team shirt to my regiment which we will be putting up in our regimental bar. Of course in return, we will be sending something back, although we're not quite sure what to send yet (but we'll think of a good idea).

It was also rather nice to see that ETFC have got involved with Help for Heroes, which is poignant as several of my colleagues have benefited from the charity.

We should begin our return from Afghanistan in the next couple of months, so I will keep you up to date with the plan for attending a match - hopefully we'll be top of the league by then!

Anyway, take care, and speak soon!

Guys

When you come back you will not need to worry about reduced fees for entry and for that matter paying for your beers Iand a few other towners will stand you and your fellow regiment members a few beers.

In the meantime Town will take of itself but the important thing is that you and your colleagues look after yourselves you all do a grand job in exceptional circumstances

Thanks for the kind messages everyone, I've passed them on to several of the guys out here. The plan is still definitely on to attend a Town game when we're back in the UK - but we're still not quite sure of a specific date yet. If we're lucky we'll be able to see the Town playing in one of the FA Cup qualifying rounds - so let's hope they keep marching on on on.

A few pints in the bar before the game that we attend certainly sounds good, but please don't feel obliged to buy us drinks - it'll simply be excellent just to be back in the UK enjoying a game of football! Plus we get free entry to the game, so if anything, we should be buying you drinks!

Not long until our tour is finished now, looking forward to meeting you all soon.

With respect from all at 2 Medical Regiment,

Robbo
