TOP 3 PLAYERS IN EACH DIVISION?

Recommended Posts

Yes those names trip off the tongue don't they and you can add Javier Rivera, Kelfala Fofana, the Quattromini's, Mark Doyle, Lee Scott, Jonathan Donoghue and Thomas Looney, to quote that famous George Best joke where did it all go wrong as the sky was the limit.

Actually I believe Thomas Looney still plays for Kentish Town! As for the others,I gather they chose not to play for the club and it was clear that a lot of these players had very poor attitudes and thought they were better than they actually were, granted a few and I stress a few were quality players but to go on as if they were "los galacticos" is a bit over the top

Well that's exactly what the above mentioned players were and I couldn't have put it better myself, I had to pinch myself sometimes watching Javier Rivera orchestrate the midfield incase I was dreaming and the Lee Scott and Jonathan Donoghue partnership was something to be hold, can you imagine if that same team and the Coaching staff had stayed together for last season, they would be playing in the Ryman League Division 1 North this season guaranteed.

Ref Off Ref - I take it you were all present and correct at the Recreation Ground in 2007/2008 when Kentish Town came calling and won 6-0 without breaking sweat

out of the 6 scored Scottie surprisingly didn't score

Yes, I think that just about says it all doesn't it, the sky was the limit for that squad of players however the Club just threw it all away which was a crying shame

Well they were together until around early december weren't they? and they were hardly top of the league and running away with it.Maybe if some of the players had shown more resolve and stayed to finish what they had started then Kentish Town would be in a much better position both on and off the pitch, especially with the good impression I've got from the new management and coaching staff.Same old story though, when the money goes so does the loyalty...

loyalty hey hey! i was there from the first minute the team entered the league i think it was 6/7 seasons ago and captain for 4

of them seasons, dave dawson 6/7 seasons, shaka cole 4 or 5 seasons, tom mcmullen 4 seasons, paul butler 3 or 4 seasons and we never recieved a penny as far as i know, all we had was loyalty we wouldve done anything for KTFC,none of us left because we wasnt winning

because we was there when all we was doing was losing seasons before that,i think we just needed a break from football alltogether and now were missing it.

Tommy I was actually referring to players rhodes mentioned in his list. Not all but some of those were not loyal to the club especially his favourite Jon Donoghue. The names you mentioned including your own are names I have seen in match programmes and reports many times and I don't doubt the loyalty shown by these players.I totally understand that players come and go I just think at this particular level the desire to play football should surpass the demand for money and Im saying this as I remember rhodes once suggesting players left as they were promised money which wasn't given...which is not on but probably happens alot at this level as well as higher.

L.Bunker for Pitstone and L.Jones for Bletchley appear to be scoring goals well for their respective sides in Div.2

Lawrence Bunker scores goals for fun in Division Two, he hit an impressive 35 goals last season for Pitstone despite them only finishing midtable, so you certainly couldn't rule him out for one of the best players in the Division. If I can be biased I would pick a couple from The 61 FC which would be: Jamie Irons who is a superb defender and reads the game excellently and Ricky Clark in midfield who always looks a step above those around him, I'm consistently impressed with the pair of them whenever I have seen them, including when we have played higher placed opposition.

all the players rhodes mentioned were the most un loyal players that ever played for KTFC unlike us we played for KTFC and all the people involved especially frank because he put so much effort into the club the others just took it as a stop gap but for me being there so long i was used to it seeing players come in and dissapear, every season it was the same 4 or 5 of us and a totally new team every season.

Must be so hard for players who see that kind of thing season after season, you cannot blame players if someone is prepared to dangle a carrot and in the process they are stepping up a level or two, but there are those who in turn stay loyal and are left to pick up the pieces.

Guess the other problem is when a club cannot progress, as the guy said from The 61 FC Luton, amazing success last season especially against higher placed teams and definately deserve as a unit to be competing at a step up or two, but are restricted due to their ground, if the big boys then come in....and so forth and so forth.

Kings Langley, season before took Division 2 by storm, up to Division 1 and finish runners up to Royston, what a credit.....but no floodlights installed in time, harshly relegated back to Division 2 but sensibily are then re-instated to Division 1, should though be in the Prem, whoever was at fault it wasn't the players, then Manager goes to Leverstock Green of which you cannot blame him, some players I guess follow too, the rest have to start all over again, whoever you support or play for at times like that you have to feel sympathetic for the players involved.
