Frome Town Back down to Earth!!

After the euphoria of our opening day win my team, Frome Town are now languishing in the relegation zone after 3 straight defeats. Weve lost our living legend striker Mark Salter with a broken collar bone & weve now just capitulated.Looks like it could be long hard season. Pleasing to see were near the top of the attendance league but id swap that for a healthy league position anyday!!

I went to the Bedfont game and yes the side is the same as last year.

As for the result, it was a bit flattering when you take into consideration the team that Bracknell had to put out.

Their manager walked out on Friday and after the weekend so did most of their players so they were using mostly ressies and youth players.

In fainess to Bracknell they did try and at times looked like they could nick a couple of goals, but I think it was always going to be a case of not if but by how many.

lol!! I guess youre talking about 1 or 2 certain Rebels there?? Im not daft, im fully aware that under the circumstances we were always going to be one of the best supported clubs this season & itll be interesting to see what we atract NEXT season.

Apart from losing our extermely influential striker we apparently lack any real height up front or in defence. Were stuggling to cope with the more physical aproach this league offers!
Even at this early stage of the season, it looks that i may of been wrong in thinking the step up in level is not that big. Its certainly looking big enough for us. BUT im sure youll agree that, apart from Abingdon, our opponents Totton, Mangotsfield & Thatcham are 3 of the better sides in the division so all hope is not yet lost!!!!!!!!

Totton were certainly a very good side last year. I think they're meant to have lost a key player this year (went to Gosport). Thatcham also just missed the playoffs, and Mangotsfield have come down so if they've kept the squad you'd expect them to be reasonably skilful & probably more physically imposing.

So yes, that's not the easiest start by any means...early days yet.

coz ive seen loads of postings & its quite obvious that certain Royals are blatantly embarrassed about their low attendances in comparrison with The Rebels!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is all too familiar a team does well and then does badly and you can take comfort in your good support thats good for you, i gather as a club you have been on the up for a few seasons, its not surprising how the support ebbs when you get promotion and further success is not forth coming. As woody said you wont get an argument here, some forums there is always fighting but thankfully not on here between Royals supporters.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

Fellas, I can assure you all thats not my intention at all. I happen to think this is a good & friendly forum & if you read my postings im far from bragging about our attendances. 170 & 150 are hardly wow! crowds are they? Taking comfort? No, if anything im dissapointed. For what is the start of a new era for FTFC i hoped for crowds of 200.

Thanks for the good luck coz its looking like we may need abit!

I look forward to having a drink with you guys when we come up. It'll be nice to put a face to the postings!
