Just heard that former 'Gate midfielder Albert Foan passed away on 14.8.09 aged 85. He also played for Norwich and West Ham.

i am probably one of the few using this site who remember him play .he was a good ( inside forward ) as they were then known .being a young man then he seemed old to me as i remember him being a bit foliclly chalenged i.e short of hair.good memories , rip albert

Yes, a great favourite with the fans. Diminutive with a wisp of hair and an old style number 8. He was clever on the ball and laid a good pass. RIP.

I remember seeing him play, back in the days of the West Ham connection of the late 1950's, along with Freddie Kearns and Ken Tucker. I played in the same team as him in a 5 (or was it 6) a side competition at Hartsdown and found him to be not only a good player but a really nice person, giving encouragement to us lesser able players than he. RIP Albert
