Thoroughly entertaining second half at Bowers tonight, Mr Gillam entering the fray at 52 mins with positive result and Hullbridge Sports young side showing great spirit... more games like this will make for a great season ! ( LC )

I've seen Eton Manor twice now this season and in pres season as a couple of my mates play for them - going forward as good as anything I've seen, even better than a lot of the Ryman League I've seen. But defensively an absolute shambles. The second Bas goal last night was proper keystone cops defending!

All credit to Bas though - they've had to practically rebuild the side and they are competitive all over the park. They'll be safely mid table.

sorry mate not being a pedant but basildon have not re built our side 7 of our team last night were playing last season and same coaching staff, basically we got rid of some fringe players to bowers and nicked the few decent players they had last season, that explains our start and theirs.

I apologise then. I knew a few went to Bowers and I only recognised 2 or 3 from when I watched Bas last season. Probably haven't seen you play for the best part of a year though to be fair. Think the manager seems to get 100% out of your players - bit basic in the way they play sometimes but 100% committed throughout the game.

I think people got value for money last night and didn't go home disappointed. The game was played in the right spirit too and can't remember a yellow card.LC,Hullbridge are always the youngest side in the league by miles every year and even in 3 years time those youngsters will still be under 20s!!First time we could afford to rest 6 players on top of the injured and holiday makers ones... grin

Don't know about this year , however last season Stansted were a lot younger than Hullbridge so i am surprised at your quote coachie as normally you are spot on.

Lads last night we started 7 players out of 11 that were under the age of 19 and saturday we even played 3's 93s.Last year the same. The motto is ..if you are good enough you are old enough!I blame the FA...they prevented me from playing 15 years old!Actually one of them Bradley Nobbs is at Tiptree now and scored 2 goals against us in the League Cup!!!Cheeky bum evil

But Coach - where is the advantage to Hullbridge of you picking all these kids (who play some nice football and your sides has for a few years) when as soon as they are properly ready at 20/21 years of age somebody else comes to poach them from you?

I don't know what the alternative is, but does it frustrate you that you have become like a feeder club for certain other sides?

Of course annoys me!At the moment Hullbridge doesn't pay expenses as some other clubs do in other league so we can't keep them. Our policy since I have been at Lower road has been to bring in youngsters that nobody knows and give them a chance unlikely some others clubs with budgets that won't or can't take any gambles on them and rely on more experienced players to reach their targets. At the same time i'm really pleased for everyone of our players that goes and play at higher level. That's life mate....till i get fed up and i call that millionaire friend of mine to buy the club and piss the Esl with a 20 points winning margin... grin
