west ham vs millwall

shocking stuff.

the 2 sides and fans have no love lost for each other and i know because i've watched green street wink

still, trouble outside the ground is one thing, and the police are there to deal with that.

what i find most shocking is that west ham fans were able to invade the pitch twice. did west ham not have enough stewards or did they have enough but sent most of them to look after the millwall fans as they're the ones with the reputation?

not sure what will happen next, but with the papers screaming about the bad old days etc, you can be sure the FA will act heavily because the media tell them what to do.

failing to control your fans is one thing they'll be hit for, but could the safety aspect of inadequate stewarding see them kicked out of the competition?

anyone from here there last night?

Just a thought, but as the Carling Cup is a Football League competition, as opposed to an FA competition, can the FA act upon what happened?

As a West Ham fan, the pitch invasion was utter stupidity.

Yes, the FA are the governing body for footbal in the country and although it's not "their" competition they still have the power to take whatever action they deem necessary.

It really saddens me as a West Ham fan to see what happened last night. I don't think anyone should be surprised that there was trouble last night given the history between the two teams, but it was the extent of the trouble (clearly organised) which took everyone back, including the officials. Clearly there were people masquarading as West Ham fans that had nothing to do with the club or even football. It's a shame for Millwall in particular who had been going to great lengths to improve their image in recent years, all that hard work had been wiped out in one night.

just a touch of youthful exuberance IMO.. smile Then again one famous hack said of Millwalls' appearance at Wembley in 1999..."I stood at the top of Wembley way watching the Millwall fans on their way to the stadium...the scene was reminiscent of the ascent of man, as 10,000 50+ skinheads exchanged grunts as their knuckles scraped the floor."

We had a couple of Millwall fans join us in the second half when we played Chelmsford who were clearly trying to wind us up and then reacted badly when we went 0-4 up. They had to be removed from the ground because they were looking for a fight.

Can't say West Ham were blameless though last night, far from it.

How many times over the years have Worst Spam fans told us how they won us the World Cup in 66, ironic now as last nights behavior could be the reason we don't host the 2018 World Cup!!!!

Whilst the pitch invasion was utter madness and indefensible, let's not go nuts.

The invasion was in celebration of a goal against a team with a long standing history of rivalry. Also, I don't recall seeing on TV or Youtube any fighting or attacks against the stewards or police, on the pitch.

Wouldn't be surprised if we were thrown out of the cup though. frown

Hookey, the invasion was an attempt to wind the millwall fans up.

As for the west ham fans, the majority were trying to get to the millwall fans without actually wanting to get to them, just to look hard.

My first delivery this morning was to west ham football club and in all honesty you wouldn't of known anything had happened last night apart from the sky cameras and the 50 or so skin head geezers who were trying to get on tv while larging it in their manor!!,the shops all seemed ok and there were a few broken bottles still lying around

Mate, what can I say, they were absolute dickheads and that's how they look on YouTube.

I'm not just saying this, as I would say it if it was at Millwall, Spurs, Arsenal or anywhere, but the media are hyping it up and over-dramatising the situation. No surprise there then!

They are hypintg it up but what choice do they have, scenes like that have not been seen in a footy ground for 15 years or so.

I think the trouble outside was genuine but inside the ground i just got the impression that quite a few west ham boys thought they would get on tv and get a rep without actually having a ruck!!!!

I'm not suggesting for one minute that all West Ham fans are innocent - quite the opposite from what I saw last night. What I am suggesting is that genuine and decent football fans from any club wouldn't behave in that manner.
