Leighton Town v Slough Town

Shocking first-half display where Leighton dominated. Could not hold onto the ball for more than 10 seconds and a lot of players well below par. I thought Ricky Perks (who was excellent) and NBH and Graham Edwards were the only ones to come out of the first-half with any credit. Perks with what looked like a wonder save from close range.

They started the second-half brightly again, but after that I thought we took control of the game and played much, much better. Craig O'Connor came on and gave us some much needed energy up front, which seemed to rub-off on Simon Martin who had an excellent second-half, the other players also woke-up and we started to play as we can. O'Connor could have in-fact have had a hat-trick. Perks made one save second-half when there was a shot through players, but not much else apart from that, and we looked more likely to add a second.

Despite the poor first-half I remember thinking that a Slough side over the last three seasons would have gone in 3 or 4 nil down at half-time had we played like that, this side is a much stronger unit than we've had in recent seasons. Were not always going to play well, so hopefully that's a sign of good things.

Just one last thing as well, hats off to Graeme Edwards had a shocker last tuesday as he admitted himself, but was excellent Saturday and tonight and scored the all-important goal and is back to his normal self.

Chris if that is right that is a bloody amazing fact (not in a good way obviously). was that the game Terry Davies scored an overhead kick??

as said 1st half was not very good at all. seemed to struggle to get hold of the ball and when we had it just lumped it pretty much anywhere. Leighton were much better than us but like us vs Burnham last week should have but didn't take advantage

Hayes and Martin were not particularly playing that badly but the injury to Hayes and introduction of O'Connor gave us much needed inspiration and woke up a few such as Kean and Martin. suddenly we looked threatening every time we got the ball.

the winning goal itself was pretty lucky but who cares if it goes in. free kick was headed on by NBH i think and it hit Edwards more than anything but the young lad was delighted. shown good mental strength coming back from his bad day vs Burnham fair play.

tbh Leighton didn't really look like getting back into it. the defence even when under pressure is so so much more solid than what we have become used to in recent years. Sweeney has been great defensively this season and Murphy prevents a hell of a lot of crosses getting into our box when up against the winger. NBH and Edwards could be an amazing partnership and Perks has been pretty much faultless so far this season other than maybe his kicking

well done Rebels great result lads lets keep it going. 6th place lets not get dizzy

Yep, that was the game. I'm fairly sure thats right. Our Tuesday night record in recent seasons home and away has been woeful.

Last season we won 2, drew 3 and lost 9 Tuesday night games.

And the season before we won 1, and drew 1 out of 12 Tuesday night games (lost 11).

Tuesday night has not been good for Slough in recent seasons, lets hope it changes!

We certainly got better as the game went on, which makes a change from the last few years.

In the first half we were well under the cosh against a Leighton side who performed well. Some of our clearances were quite poor, going straight to the opposition and renewing the pressure. The second half started more evenly and as the game went on we took more and more control. There is more skill and self belief than there has been for a few years.

I've seen enough of the side now to feel that it is a huge improvement on last year, and that mid table should not be a problem provided we avoid a host of injuries. I want to see more matches before I even think of reaching the play offs, but I would love to see a decent cup run in at least one of the cups. We haven't had one of those for years, and Tring on Saturday would be a good start.

Can only really agree with what has been said so far, we were nowhere in the first 50mins or so, and then dominated the game, particularly through Sealey, Sinclair and O'Connor, in the remainder of the game. Once we came back into it there were only a couple of moments to worry about but the attacking was so much better.

Well done to Edwards for his goal too. Very pleased for all the lads after coming back from that start, last season's team would not have survived it I'm sure.

Looking forward to Saturday.
