Which is the worry. Picture it. The game is advertised as an Arsenal XI. People in the city think it may be a fairly 'big' Arsenal side. The £10 admission fee doesn't help. People pay their 'Ayrton', come in, and watch the Arsenal yoof. People get disillusioned, and feel that they have been 'duped.' The club is not portrayed in a good light. Only if the Arsenal first XI turn up (or about 6 or them) can the £10 fee properly be justified, IMO.

By the way. When does the £80 donation get taken off the season ticket prices? It was a donation after all, wasn't it?

Finally, if my memory serves me correctly, a discout used to be given if one bought their season ticket/s before the end of July. Is that happening again this season? Thought not.

I don't think £10 is too expensive, even if it is the U19's or whatever. We've all got loadsa money, remember, and the standard of football [from them]should be far higher than most Ryman Premier teams. I personally would have preferred Watford again, but there you go.

I'll let someone else answer the season ticket stuff, but you do now get ALL cup games and friendlies, I'm sure you didn't used to but I may be wrong.

The key word there is 'We've,' Rob. People from Bricket Wood, Hatfield etc may wish to take in a match, seeing as it's The [****!!****]. When it turns out not to be, they may get annoyed. The club, as I said, will not be seen in the best light, people may not come back.

Hopefully the standard of football from The [****!!****] will be high. However, if someone off the street came down t'Park to watch this friendly, IMO the majority wouldn't come for the standard of football, they'd come to see 'big' Arsenal players.

Hmm, tricky one this. I suppose as long as the game is advertised as an 'Arsenal XI' people should not expect the full [****!!****] first team to be on display, although there will always be a few that don't understand the protocol. Caveat emptor, I say.

It may be better to charge the £10 and put up with a few disgruntled punters (who probably wouldn't come back anyway) than charge say, £5, and lose out when Thierry Henry and co turn up. Dunno, really, it's all a game, innit?

This is a very difficult one. I posted on here a couple of weeks ago concerning the admission prices for the remaining friendly games and the response was overwhelming. Nil.

Two or maybe three seasons ago, The Woood advertised a pre-season friendly against an Arsenal XI, 4000 people turned up and the U19's emerged from the tunnel wearing the red/gold/whatever of Arsenal. I recall that there was some trouble in the crowd, falling short of a riot, but Danny Huntrer chose to give all or some of the admission money back to the punters.

It is my view that if only 4/500 'regular' Saints fans attend, complaints will be muted if the opposition does not include 6 or so 'household names'. However, if 4000 local people attend and it's Bergkampf for 10 minutes with their Yoof, it's not so much the complaints on the night, it's the negative publicity within the City that is of concern. How many of those 3500 will take an interest in supporting The Mighty Saints on a regular basis?

I disagree with you, Rob, when you suggest that we won't know who is playing until they turn up on the night. That's rubbish. We ask them up front. They will know if it's their Yoof with "a number [other than one] of experinced internationals". Let's ask them and then publicise it accordingly.

It's 7 weeks before the game. The press release, the admission price, the suggestion that punters should form an orderly queue at "the ticket office" [sic] suggest to me that it will be the full monty.

You both refer to season tickets. No other club permits entry to cup games on the season ticket because the home club must pay over a percentage of the entrance monies to the visiting club. I don't know how The Club dealt with that obligation last season or how they intend to this year. Ask an Official. It's unlikely to be a state secret.

Yes GHA. The £200 last year included a 'donation' to the Club. Gibbo must have been pleased with the response as he has kept the same price for this season. I sincerely hope that he is pleased again.

I assume that there is no question of subtracting the 'donation', GHA. If someone thinks that £200 is too much to pay, they will, presumably, pay on the day instead.

There was no 'early purchase discount' last season but there was in previous years. 10% or thereabouts as I recall. There has been no reference to that this time.

Good thought, Rob.

Just a thought in response to yours: You are the advance publicity.

[None of this "I'm not really an Official of the Club unless it suits me to be an Official of the Club and only then on the basis of a) I accept no responsibility whatsoever for anything whether or not it appears to fall within my province; B) I shall be under no obligation at any time to declare whether I am speaking in an official or unofficial capacity, before during or after the debate; c) if anything goes wrong, it's not my fault, and d) if it all goes swimmingly well, then I acceppt full credit.]
