Redbridge v's ETFC

Recommended Posts

Urgent Warning!!!!!!!!!!!!! My two boys have been to 2/3 games so far this season and will hopefully be at Redbridge tonight. The warning is they have bought a musical megaphone from the gadget shop in Enfield Town for some light hearted terrace entertainment, they have also been directed on how to use the instrument without getting on too many nerves.

My prediction tonight is for an increase of paracetamol sales.

Sound's like a classic mid week away game at Redbridge, never a nice place to go so a hard earned point by the sounds of it.

looking forward to the microphone against Leverstock saturday, i shall be brining my earmuffs !!.

any good individual performances from the game last night then??

Was impressed with Blackburn's running, and the back 3 looked assured and solid with McKay sweeping behind Wild and Edwards, apart from the goal, where something went wrong. Andy Jones looked good in patches, but needs to play as well as he can do for 90 minutes. Marks was full of running, and Minnitti's finish was fantastic if he meant it. We seem to be playing a genuine back 5, rather than wing-backs, which isn't a problem, but does limit our width further up the pitch, and puts more emphasis on the three in the middle to create chances. I can see us not leaking many goals, but I'd like to see us create more going forwards.

Still, definitely a point gained, rather than two points lost, and a promising start to the season.

Holmes handling was excellent, and his save near the end was top drawer, only slight criticism would be his kicking, although I'm sure the wind didn't help much. I'm a fan of Ellams, although I'd like to see him get forward more - last night, he and Blower basically played as full backs, rather than wing backs. Defensively he looked very solid, and won his headers and tackles. I think the state of the pitch didn't help our game, which from what I've seen so far this season is a shortish passing game.

To be honest we were a yard slower than Redbridge in the first half, however, Mackay (4) looked very good and Dave Allen will struggle to regain his place on that performance. Wallace was very prominent but as i've mentioned his choice of pass's were either too slow or wrong. Stuart upfront ran his '3 piece suites off' but did not have any good opportunities to score.

Second half got better for us when RM came on up front and Rudi showed his ability to think quickly in dead ball situations. Jason Holmes was ok in goal, he came off his line confidently and dominated his box.

The goal he let in was a very well taken goal and my only nik picking on the situation was that Jason could have reacted a bit quicker in shutting down the goalscorer, but as I said the strike was a very good one.
