WEFC 2 - Yate Town 1 - that'll do nicely

Two scrappy goals but it's so good to see someone (on our side!) score from those positions... Shed did well to get them, because both came awkwardly to him & he placed himself well to see and take those chances. Looked very good in the second half, too - he & Wallo both looked knackered chasing round in the heat.

Shame about that last-second goal, Rob deserved a clean sheet... I don't think he was to blame at all.

Good shape all round, really - Yate played hard but pretty fairly, and showed a decent passing game, but I thought we simply outplayed them most of the time. Bruce and Seeds did very well in midfield and Dell looked much better this game: obviously Fagan and Wharton(?) will need a bit more time together to really get an understanding but looked promising as the future centre-back pairing and our wing play looks neat.

Pearce looks promising, too: I think for now we need to keep him for the more footballing sides, but from the little we saw today he should do well...

Looking good. 3 more points. And of course we've got the strongest bench in the league laugh

Yes that will do nicely, not a memorable performance but one of the many ground out results which we will need if we are to have a crack at the title, there are some games where it is no shame to sit back a bit and defend when you have to. Yate were faily decent having had experience of playing at a higher level, do think they must wonder how they didnt get anything from the game, MOM definately Bully very comanding between the sticks.

Special mention for the ref apart from having the coolest haircut and persona, didnt miss a trick and was fairly decent, hope we get him again.

Yep, he was a good ref: I think it's no coincidence that there were no cards and no incidents, he seemed to keep sound control throughout. Played a couple of odd advantages, and there were a few times he blew (for both sides) where there didn't seem any visible fouls and vice versa, but probably his view was better than ours... just making no glaring mistakes puts him in the top few % at this level!

Shows how it improves the game with a ref who isn't whistle-happy, too. Respect works both ways!

Not a classic but did what needed to be done. I'm sure if we'd of kept a clean sheet we'd almost be getting cocky considering we rested chenn, butts and jake parsons and still have Willo to come back in!!

Congrats to Shed for getting off the mark in the leauge. Dont think he's the finished artical but i think he'll get 10 or so goals this year from the bench.

Roll on Gosport on MONDAY!

We did enough and some of the "fringe" players got to show that they can step up and fill the boots of established players, this will be vital with the inevitable injuries and suspensions. I think a we have more strength in depth than last season, it was nice to be able to rest players without taking a big risk. Scotty clearly had this lot watched and was confident he could rest these players, its like having a proper manager!!!!

As for the ref, he could easily have dished cards out for nondescript silly challenges but he showed, dare I say it, common sense. It was clearly a clean game and didn't warrant any cards,he reffed well so i doubt we'll get him again this season.

But 9 points from 9, you can ask for no more from the team, now for about that FA Cup run.....

As it turned out Yate were the ideal opponents for Saturday. No disrespect to them but they reminded me of the Windsor side when we first got relegated to this league, they clearly had some decent players but seemed to be lacking a bit of nous at this level. They probably need to sign a couple of thugs to give them more balance.

I thought Windsor looked in complete control of the game from the first minute to the last. I'm sure if needed there were another couple of gears we could have moved up into.

It was good to see Shed score a brace, he's obviously a bit of a rough diamond at the moment but he has the perfect mentor in Scott. He seems to be a bit of a fox in the box type of forward where he doesn
