Joseba, I think the time to abuse players from the terraces has long gone. I am aware that we are all disappointed with the start to the season and myself included have moaned openly about players on this Forum. However i feel that the time has now come that we get united behind the players, the team, the management and the Club. This season is not lost yet and a lot can still be achieved. Rather than abusing players and singing the same old songs, i think it would be great if somebody from the Margate choir could pen 0ne or two new lyrics with a supportive tone that could be sung on the terraces.

Sadly Jim is right as every year a section of the crowd, and not necessarily the choir, single out a player for abuse.

 

Players like Paul Lamb, Vic Pain and Eddie Clayton in previous years its not new and will probably never change as some of our supporters are never satisfied

at the end of the day we all slag off players at first but then you cant expect them to always have a good game, its just like having a good day and a bad day.

Anyone reading this would think Hartsdown Park was the old Cold Blow Lane. I'm sorry but I just don't hear this 'torrent of hate' towards our players. You get the odd moan but given the fact these guys are:

 

a) Grown men, not children.

Paid, in many cases, hundreds of pounds per week. Money the club can ill afford.

I think the issue is you get more response from the carrot not the stick. Some people on hearing abuse directed at them from their own fans will say ok so I prove them wrong, a lot more will think if my own fans dont care why should I.

Most players don't care either way. As long as they get the money they are happy. Why else would they ask for pay rises despite us finishing in a relegation position last season?

Sad but true Coffin Ender. I would much rather show support for the team and let the away fans abuse our players. We have a young team and derision is likely to make them hide in a game rather than keep trying their best so the team just gets worse.

Yes, except that there is relatively little abuse at Hartsdown. Matches are generally played in silence (though much of that is due to the lack of a terrace at the bottom end).

Join the club Fred, neither can I, whether at a game or on here IMO can't help at all. As a team I can understand or make constuctive criticism of an individual.

 

I, along with others always chat to the players after game and believe you me most, if not all know when they play badly and it hurts them.

I do understand that people are frustrated at bad results and what are perceived as bad players but I have found in the past here that certain players have been criticised after games that I thought they did well in. I guess it personal opinion and personal taste

Right I can see from some of the replies on this thread some of you do not know me. I started it because I get fed up with certain players always being blamed for things they did not do and being the target of certain individuals both on this forum and on the terraces (home & away).

 

This thread was meant to be very much tounge in cheek as can be seen from my nomination for the target.

 

As for players not caring if anyone could see the pain in Wayne's eyes (and no it was not that I was next to him at the traffic lights) as he drove home on Tuesday night it was evident that he really cares.

 

Yes they do get paid for what they do and many of us would love to be able to do that but so what should they donate thier pay to charity. After all how many of you actually everyday that you work get it right 100% of the time and give 100% effort. Remember that what they get paid is not only for what they produce on the field but as compensation for giving up thier free time to train.

 

Rant over now lets all move on do what we all love doing the best which is supporting the MIGHTY BLUES

Personal opinion is what this is all about, if there wasn't differing views there'd be no point to having a fans forum.

In my opinion i think you are missing the point i dont think we have bad players at margate but what we do have is players that are playing at the wrong level in the football pyramid and that is down to the manager for not recognising that, no one can say he hasent had enough time to get it right.

yeh I can guess where that one's directed CE. Please let me enlighten the dark and dank crevices you obviously frequent..........the 'player', who most ar aware of that asked for a wage rise, did so to the tune of another

so-so and thanks for asking. This will be a funny old season for many and I hope the Gate find the form and use it to stay up. A bit shakey last season but you deserve better.
