Semanshia, Dumas & Macca...

Recommended Posts

Wayne is made available for loan, with a view to regaining fitness following an interupted pre-season.

Ash is made available for loan "with a view to a transfer" which I think is a crying shame. But you can understand the lad wanting to play football, particularly after such a great season last year.

And Macca may return as his deal with Grays was never finalised.

All on the official site.

I wouldn't like to see Ash leave, but you can understand him wanting to play first team football. Statham has always said, and has been true to his words though, when he said that if players don't want to play for the club, or compete for a position in the team, then he doesn't want them in his team.

Macca is an interesting one though, I havn't thought we have done too badly at right-back, but, if Brian thinks he can strengthen that position with macca, and macca is prepared to work hard to come back, then go for it.

I think ashley has the biggest up hill struggle of all - think about what his situation is here!! competing for a place in the side/squad is one thing but competing against Brian's captain is another, i totally understand why Ashley would want to move on! and good luck to him, i personally think Ashley is the type of player we should be trying to keep!!! very disappointed!! And why would wayne be put up for a loan spell? the capital league starts next week he could get 90 minutes in that, Im very confused with this matter, this is starting to look like they have been shown the door!

I am sure Wayne wants to be playing in a better league then the Capital league/reserves. He is definately capable of playing in the ryman prem.

quote from the website "Wayne has been unlucky. He has missed most of our pre-season, due to a combinaton of holiday, injury and then family bereavement. He needs to regain his fitness by playing regular football, so he can work his way back into the team. I think the best way for him to do this is on loan somewhere."

Adam im talking reserves to get his fitness back! not for the season! you obviously didn't understand my submission

Can't say I'd be too disappointed if Dumas left, Cousins for my money is a better player. My only concern would be with cover. If at the first time of being dropped he wants off, then cheerio.

As for Semanshia, it's hard to see where, even when fully fit, he could break into the side. Macca could be an interesting one, Pond at right back has done well and IMO, deserves a run in the side.

The fact is that we would be a stronger squad if Ash were to stay. So the carrot dangling on the end of the stick has to be attainable.

If, as has been mentioned above, he feels that he stands absolutely no chance of dislodging the incumbent (barring an injury) it's not suprising he'd want out.

I don't understand the stuff about "don't want to play for the club"; I wouldn't have though there was any doubt about last seasons player of the year wanting to play for us. "Competing for a place" is also all well & good, providing the place is actualy up for grabs.

From what I understand Ashley does want to play for the club, he just isn't the type of person to sit on the bench (and take the money). He wants to play football (which is understandable). Rick's posting made a lot of sense. In order to keep a player, you have to make the promise of a regular place achievable and considering Brians choice in that position is his captain, it's not, IMO.

My own opinion, I think letting Ash go would be a mistake. he can fulfil other positions and we do lack pace down the left hand side.

Ashley was first choice Vs Orient, Bishops Stortford, Braintree, & Barnet, so had ample chance to impress and make that place his own. Whether you think he deserved to keep his place, on those displays is opinion.
We have lads who have done well pre season who aren

Ash has been in the team for Hendon & Wealdstone (albeit warming the bench), so presumably Brian sees a role for him.

Loaning him out to get some football seems a reasonable compromise. I didn't understand why it had to be "with a view to a transfer" though. If that's what Ash has asked for then I'd agree that maybe he should show a bit more desire to shine at his loan club and win a starting place back at 'ricay. That would seem to give him the best of both worlds; regular football but still part of the 'ricay set-up with a return to the first team always a possibility.

I think this is very interesting with macca possibly coming back. I think pondy has been fantastic so far, plus oates and wiles have been very good at centre back, and have looked like they have played together for sometime.

On the Dumas front I think that if he is unwilling to train hard and take his chances when they will come (and they will) then like Ryan I think we should say good bye.

If he did go i think the squad would be a lot weaker though he gives us good pace at the full back position something in which i think cousins lacks. However if we come up against a big side then without Cousins we will have no height whatsoever in the side! its quite refreshing for us though to have a bit of strength in depth, it makes a nice change.

Both players have their strengths and weaknesses, some people think Dumas is better, others think Cuz is better, fact is, the manager has the final say as to who is in his team, Ashley is obviously been part of his plans otherwise he wouldnt have been on the bench either.

Both Dumas and Semanshia could have asked to go out on loan, we don't know that, in which case, surely Brian is doing the right thing by giving them what they want?
