i think suddenly peoples hopes have been blown up slightly to what they were 2 months or so ago. think deep down we would all be happy with being fairly close to the playoff places and being extremely comfortably away from relegation zone. building a team over 2 or 3 seasons and keeping a balanced and consistent team in terms of using the same players over a few seasons is always likely to build something long term and effective

Am I the only one who wants to see us win?

 

Is everyone else content to put up with defeats or at best a draw?

 

I go to watch Slough because I want to see them win!!! and the mentality at the club for the last few seasons is "well we lost again, but it is alright as we will be reprevied again" and I can see this mentality is raising its head again this season - "its only 2 games and we have scrapped a point" - well 1 point from 2 games will equate to 21 points for the season - thats Newport IOW quality!

 

If we dont get 3 point from Saturday then you can do the maths and see where we will be heading for the rest of the season!

I also want to see us win and wont be content with a draw or defeat in most games, as the last 3 seasons have been worse then dreadful, and to be honest i think we will win on saturday as we some decent players this time round. So lets really get behind them and get our first 3pts

Staines Rebel is right.

We need to lose this 'everyone is better than us' mentality otherwise we'll end up with another wasted season. Now you can say I am over reacting safter 2 games if you like, but like Staines says, this isn't just the last 2 games, its the last 2/3 seasons where whenever we don't get the result we want its because Sutton Coldfield are a good side,. burnham are a good side, Wroxham are a good side ........... so when do WE become a good side?

 

All me and SR are saying is we shouldn't settle for 11th/12th place, its allowed to be disappointed after a defeat, especially when we have brought in superior players.

 

My particular beef was the fact that we seem to be making the same 'mistake' every game - decent 1st half, fall apart 2nd half.

 

Lets start the season this Saturday with a resounding win and take that positivity into the forthcoming games and go on a run so that the rest of this league say that Slough Town are a good team, instead of us saying it about everyone else!

try being positive. all this talk about if we dont win sat. thats putting pressure straight on before the games kicked off

Barton were doing OK at the end of last season, once they got rid of all the better known players and the young lads were battling as a team. Not seen them this year though. All the money has crept off to Arlesey...

I notice ex Rebel Michael Parkin is at Barton now, and also seen that Matt Miller is also listed in this seasons Marlow squad, but has yet to appear for them yet.

after the crap performance off the two centre halfs surly bateman has to change it and bring in harper least he gives 100% and looks like he cares about winning

Garbage. Bowden-Hasse is easily the best centre back we've had for years.

we have a very good side, i don't see what all the panic is all about, we are playing some very attractive football,that can only get better, just got to give it time, i'm sure that when the results come the detractions will be long forgotten and it will be brilliant this and fantastic that i'm afraid people will just have to learn to be patient, good things come to those that wait.

i love the determination and passion with which Dean Harper plays but unfortunately for him Bowden-Hasse and usually Edwards are just that extra class above him. the defence is not massively to blame they need a bit better protection from midfield

This is why I hate theis forum sometimes...please please stop undermining the time and effort put in by many at Slough, there is no magic wand nor a tried and tested route to success..patience is the best we as supporters can hope for..lets see what happens in the next 10 games that will see if we are heading in the right direction..
