Barton Rovers Saturday

Recommended Posts

Barton Rover's sit plumb bottom of the table having Lost 0-4 at home on Saturday and 3-0 away last night.

Therefore if this years squad is any good, then we should be looking at beating them be a similar margin.

If we only win by the odd goal especially if we let them score then we have a problem.

A draw means we are in for another long painful season.

But to not get anything, then serious questions need to be asked - even at this early stage of the campaign.

I hope that at tomorrows training session there are some questions asked of the squad about the last two performances and that the problems so far, are addressed.

Am I the only one that thinks people are over reacting slightly? I don't know if everyone seems to have amazingly high expectations this season or something else.

2 games into the season against 2 of the leagues top sides and perhaps results haven't been as people had planned. I'm sure most people would have looked at the fixtures and taken 2 points out of the 6 on offer so far and though "Thats a good start to the season". It just so happens we have 1 instead.

For me finishing top 10 will be good. Personally I don't see us getting out of this league for a couple of seasons. To bring in 7 players into the 1st IX and expect promotion is unrealistic.

people are going a bit OTT and expecting miracles straight away

i trust this squad will grow stronger as a side and we will get it going eventually

that being said i fully expect us to beat sides such as Barton Rovers who compared to us have had a shocker of a start scorelines wise

Yes, people are over-reacting. We have played two sides that will be there or there abouts at the end of the season.

We gave Sutton C. a good run for their money and if we had been given the stonewall penalty we would have got all three points.

Take-away the dubiously given free kick and the error by Edwards and we would have taken a point off Burnham.

4 points from those two games and most people I would guess would have been thinking about a top 3 or 4 finish.

Personally, I'm quite happy about our start to the season because I think from now on the results will start to improve.

Collectively, we just need to stop knocking the team after just 2 games.

No, not at all Tom some of it is totally over the top. Some comments are really quite ridiculous that have been posted in the last 48 hours, but it's the same usual culprits who think were Real Madrid if we win and a Sunday Park side if we lose.

Were two games into the season and have lost one game. Some people need to get real, we've played 2 decent teams in two games so far.

we have been the better team for 2 out of the 4 halves we have played. just have not took advantage when we have the better of the game enough whereas we have conceded too many when under pressure.

as RR says 2 or 3 incidents have altered the results from being good to not so good. its not like we have been hammered in both games we have matched 2 tough teams at times just not long enough periods to get more points

Staines is not over reacting at all if you read the post he makes perfect sense. Barton Rovers are a very poor side and if we mess up on sat then we are in for a tough season ahead. To me this saturday will see how good or bad we are in this league.

de ja vou...... this seaon, last season, season before.. if you keep changing your managers, getting on the teams back because they dont win EVERY GAME and not allow things to develope over time and get behind your team and who evers in charge you will go nowhere! you will anoy the players, anoy the management team and they will have had enough and leave meaning your in stuck again.... have faith its 2 games in!! look at hull, ipswich... etc things not started well are they panicing??!! relax enjoy the beautiful game and if your loosing gaames in 10-12 games later then moan!

Blimey, on the rekoning of a few of you on here Sir Alex will be getting the sack after last nights result!!

You've played two league games, had a pre-season where you don't seem to have been able, for one reason or another, play the side that has stated the season.

Give the guy a break and let him get on with it.

The season is 42 games long and not decided on the first couple of results.

Last season and the one before and the one before etc. we knew we were going to be poor. This season however it's different. We have good players, a good manager and talk (by the manager) of a top five finish. That's why people are a little disappointed but I don't hear anyone calling for changes.

Here,here!Ian.
Couldn't agree with you more.
I feel we are lucky enough to have two very good goalkeepers, excellent defenders including five squad fringe players[Harper,Fenton,Jackman,Smith and Jeffery],a hugely talented midfield, who if played right are as good as anyone in the division .
My only concern is our lack of shots, creativity, leading the line and no goals from our strikers!
This area does worry me.

But with a new sqaud and a still new manager can you not realise that perhaps play offs may be a huge target this season?

Building up a side slowly adding quality here and there is more likely to get success rather than splashing the cash. Look at Didcot last season. A few seasons of being there or there abouts adding to the side year after year and getting their just rewards at the end.

3spirit what makes you think your 5 fringe players will stay they are all good enough to play how long will it be before they go and play elsewere?

I can see were your coming from Bateman doesn't seem keen to play Harper, will Murphy be dropped when Fenton is fit? will Perks be dropped when Jackson is fit? Seems Smith is already playing for Enfield and Jeffery should have been going to the US, if they can get a game somewhere it must beat travelling the country to sit on the bench despite missing the Slough supporters chants
