European super league good for British football?

Interesting article here which I found following Wenger's musings...

http://www.footballnation.info/focus090724.html

I think the author underestimates the "let them all f*** off and leave the game to real teams" feeling. Of course, it does mean we'd still have had Beckham on this continent.

I don't know if Wenger anticipates the top teams leaving permanently. A closed shop would get rather boring, rather fast, so I don't think he can mean this - Barcelona-Man U might be special once or twice, but not 4 times/season... And if the league was closed how long could they claim to be the top teams? Different teams would be in the Champions' League, after all.

But if it's not, then it could actually improve things for other teams in the PL as the top one or two go up and one/two of the 'big four' would have to go down.

But a european super leauge would be just as boring as it would be the same sides winning that year after year!!

Until european wide wage cap comes into play, AND higher tv money for clubs lower down the leauge, football at the very highest level is always going to be a case of the rich getting richer

I have no interest whatsoever in the premiership, total waste of space, the football league has more or less gone the same way.

The worrying thing is the mentality of so called professional football is spreading like a cancer through even the non-league game with the conference in many respects trying to imitate and cash in as well, why oh why would you want to pay

One point here, about the amount of games they play. I just don't get it, that's their effing job and the whinge about having to do it twice in a week. I should ask my boss after a heavy three weeks of 5 days a week if I can get a week off due to exhaustion, I am sure when he had stopped laughing he would condsider it. they are so pampered and protected it is embarassing. Remember a few years ago Wivenhoe I think it was had to play 11 games in 14 days and Harrow had three games on the last day of the season, imagine giving that schedule to Wenger or Fergie. It is pathetic, how many of us would love our full time job to be playing football, especially on their sort of salaries. A reality check is definitely in order.

Just worries me it is just a matter of time until this gets to our level, look at AFC Wimbledon, United FC or even Truro, they have all derived success in one way or another because of the money put into their club and a desire for success at any cost (and a certain level if bitterness). Remember Colne Dynamos anyone? It will all end in tears...
