Hendon 1-0 Billericay

One of those days where we did everything but score - then Hendon won the game with their first shot on target! Better performance than Saturday, defended well (for 80 minutes at least!) and created some good chances. Billy and Joe both had shots saved by a 'keeper who rode his luck at times, Billy had a header against the outside of the post. Our wide players did well, some quality balls into the box.

It's always the way...best team on the park but can't hit a cows [****!!****] with a banjo...and then get done on a sucker punch.

On the whole I agree with Simon. We definately had the better chances and when we played the ball on the ground, definately the better side. Yes we dominated for periods but then when we employed the long punt up field the ball, which sometimes was either to be a gift to their back four or aimless, which I found quite frustrating.

There was a great amount of effort from the lads and they certainly didn't deserve to lose but if you don't buy a ticket up front...

The team looks as if it has shaken off it's opening season nerves and there was some assured performances out there last night. My MOM was Ian Cousins.

Shame about the result - we most definitely didn't deserve to lose. We definitely have the talent, we just need that first goal to ease the pressure a bit. Once it comes, I can see us putting quite a few away. Would be sweet if that happened on Friday against Cray!

I thought we played really well yesterday from back to front and were in complete control of a large majority of the match, with maybe us just being guilty of one touch too many in the final third on occasions.

Maybe it was our desire to get three points at the end that cost us the one we had. Is that a good thing away from home? I don't know...a discussion point maybe.

If we can continue to play like that we'll be fine. Hopefully when the first one goes in off someone's knee or something the floodgates will open.

Looking forward to the Cup Final on Friday smile

Think the saying "could not buy a goal" comes to mind last night, BUT I really believe from what i have seen that once we get a goal they will start to come readily. All it takes is that first one to go in, and whats the betting it will come from an unlikely source just to get us up n running.

Cannot fault the lads as the football played was soooo much better than of err...last season. I really enjoyed the game ( and that is with us losing) !!! So god only knows what it will be like (when) we win !! cuddle

And how nice was it to have a laugh again on the bus eh !

A good turnout from the fans too.

So, cmon folk (if you can)...come on down to DARTFORD ON FRIDAY !

We have drawn one..lost one...so can it be....... drinkies

I'm pretty sure that Hendon's cunning plan of wheeling in two additional goals in the second half and placing them next to (but behind the railing obviously) of the goal we were attacking, paid off. Our strikers would not have been able to see the real goal in their peripheral vision.

We can't lay claim to that cunning plan. That was all set up by Wembley manager Ian Bates - who had been training with his squad out in the park behind the stand smile

I thought it was a really good game last night, but do feel that you guys deserved a win more than us. A draw wouldn't have been unreasonable.

You'll be up in the play-off chase this season, I'm confident of that.

I think everyone's views on this game is going to be roughly the same. Like everyone, I thought we definately deserved to win the game, but as the game went on there was always a feeling that Hendon were going to nick a late goal.

There will be games where we play worse, but probably end up winning!

We definately have the talent, and we are creating chances, we just need to start scoring them now, which, I think if we can get just 1 goal, we will start scoring more.

Agree, its been quite refreshing to watch, making the pitch big, some nice pasiing and movemnet and a commanding goalkeeper. After the opening two games even though we havent won yet I have come away rather happy with the performances so long may it continue, roll on friday!!!!!!
