Billericay Town V Wealdstone Result

Recommended Posts

I thought a draw was a fair result.

Both sides will be able to point to opportunities to have won the game. I do think we are capable of better than this though and perhaps looked a bit edgy throughout the game. A clean sheet is a good start but I'm still disappointed that Dumas was overlooked for a starting berth - We need to give our young players every chance imo.

That said I think we created quite a few opportunites and am confident it won't be too long before we start troubling the scorers. I thought Baker made a big difference when he came on.

Come on you Blues!!

1st 20mins we were very slack defensively which left us wide open, fortunately Wealdstone couldn't put a decent cross in to exploit it. After that we settled down I so did my nerves, until the 6mins of injury time at the end of the game which brought chances for baker & flack and a fantastic save from Walker at the other end. As JL said a fair result. We can take heart in that we created opportunities, and there were no particularly bad performances from anybody [unless you want to include the ref/lino] but the team still needs a bit of time to gel together . Wealdstone fans had a very extensive vocabulary of four and four letter words

I thought the performance at times was quite nervous. It is one thing to play a pre season friendly when there is nothing riding on it but another to play a competative game. There is also the fact tha we have a new squad. I'm sure the players will settle.

We didn't lose, which is an improvement on last seasons start.

Couldn't agree more. I was dissapointed to see he hadn't made the starting line-up. Definately a talent for the future. But keeping the whole squad motivated and wanting to wear the Blue shirt is all part of the management role, so hopefully Ash will see some action in the very near future. It would be a great shame if he were to feel he could only advance his career elsewhere.

I was a little dissapointed with the overall performance, but it's early days &, as has been said, nerves took a while to settle.

First time I've seen Knight (in a Blue shirt that is!) and I thought he made a great contribution.

Dave Wareham made a big difference when he came on and is another that should be in the starting 11 for our next game, in my opinion.

I there were a lot of positives from the game. It showed that we are able to create chances, play some decent football, and I think that our midfield looks a lot more solid then it did last season with Dormer and Shinny. Wealdstone looked like a strong side too.

Bricknell was chasing after a lot, but looked a bit un-fit in the second half. Flacky looked sharp again! Pond played well, for a small guy, he likes to get stuck in, and also has a good throw on him. Our defence looked a bit nervous sometimes, but we still keeped a clean sheet so that was good.

For me, Baker made an impact when he came on, and definately changed the game, but both sides could have nicked a goal towards the end, with both keeper's making good saves.

I thought the whole back 5 did very well, a few shaky moments but unrecognisable from the shambles that was last season.

Considering only Dormer, Billy and Flacky were here last year out of the starting eleven I thought it was a decent start. From what I saw in pre season (admittably only a couple of games) the players that we have seem to fit better in a 4-3-3 as we don't have any natural right wingers and I think we'd be more creative letting Shinn and Dorms have more licence in a 3 with Fiston mopping up behind them.

Anyway, clean sheet and onto Hendon we go! Thank god the footy's back!
