Citizens exit the FA Cup

Recommended Posts

Paul Faulkner's young guns were no match for their Hellenic Premier League host tonight going out of the competition at the first hurdle.

Both teams were jockeying for an advantage early on but the visitors were relying on the long ball forward that was easily cut out by the big Flackwell defence.

The breakthrough came when the Citizens conceded a soft penalty on the half hour, Stuart McClennan scoring from the spot, less than 5 minutes later it was 2-0 when Ricardo Cannon beat Mark Jessop in the visitors goal.

The Welwyn youngsters were full of running but their lack of experience showed against a strong well organised Flackwell squad.

Mathew Glynn scored the home sides third with 70 minutes gone and although Jessop made some fine saves during the game it was his fumble of the ball that gifted Matt Rolfe a goal almost as the last kick of the game.

Paul Falkner said after the game ,"I think the boys let themselves down tonight but it was a lesson learned and we will now turn our attention to the League and hope for some success in the other Cup Competitions"

Oracle - There is a brief report on Flackwell Heath's Website. So how come you are still involved at Herns Lane, I thought you would be hot footing it to Enfield Town with Bilbo:
