WGCFC in FA Cup action Tonight

Recommended Posts

Who cares. The Club should not be in the Prem Div never mind the FA Cup. The ground is nothing short of a Sh*t hole!!!!!! How the club charge people to go into that ground is unreal!! Can not get over the fact the league has allowed them to stay in the Prem and send Cockfosters Down!!!! That is a joke and a shambles.

The pitch is a state and the stand is worse(how its called that is unknown to me)

Other teams in the league had to meet deadlines set out to them by the league to make sure their grounds were up to te right standard and yet WGC seem to have their own time table. No seats unless you bring a chair out from the bar or bring your own, the flood lights hardly light up the whole pitch and the list goes on.

Can someone please tell me how they get away with this????

Well I gather they won 4-0 but I think you are being a little harsh on Herns Lane, it's by no means the worst ground in the SSML and they have decent Clubhouse facilities

I was there the other week and the ground was a state. The pitch was in a complete mess, like i said there were no seats in the stand apart for the ones that had been taken from the bar, the floodlights do not cover the whole pitch...Its wrong that it is allowed to go on. Fair point about the clubhouse. It is a nice clubhouse and the car park is a good size..Apart from that the place is a SH*T Hole.

I understand that most clubs at this level do not have money but for the clubs whose grounds have not met the level the league have dealt with them!!!! Apart from WGC this is wrong and i feel for Cockfosters who went down and i feel for the teams who could not come up from Div1.

No work has been done on the ground since i was watched a game there last season it is the worst pitch i have seen and has the worst stands i have ever seen at a club of this level.

WGC ended up being the only club in the Premier Division who were due to be relegated on ground grading but stayed up because of their high league position. The FA decreed that leagues should only relegate the usual number of clubs (2 in this case) and that they should be the lowest placed clubs who failed to get the "F" grade. So Holmer Green and Cockfosters got the chop. An unwanted side effect of this ruling was that the SSML couldn't relegate Kentish Town. WGC are regarded as a "relegated" club waiting to be relegated at the end of this season. The only way that they can escape this is to get the "F" grading this season (and finish out of the bottom two!). From what I saw last Wednesday when I watched Hatfield v St Mags, they need turnstiles, protected pitch access for match officials/players and a new stand/covered accommodation. As is often the case, the "boardroom" was out of action because of no electricity. There was absolutely nothing to convince me that any of the work will be done, so it looks like Div 1 for WGC next season (and, unfortunately, Hatfield Town).

So if the work is not done and they don't get the "F" Grade no matter where they finish in the league is that them down?

Can you really see that work getting done? Not one thing has been done to that ground for years.

I understand that the pitch is not great but then alot of clubs pitches will not be great but that is not the point here. Playing or watching at WGC is a joke and the fact that you are charged to enter is wrong.

People say there is no money at the club, so all the money that they take from people watching the game and the money they spend in the clubhouse after where does all that go? Plus the money they get from the phone companies as they have 3/4 phones masks at the ground? Can they not use some of this to sort out the worst ground in the league!!!!!

According to the FA direction, they will be relegated at the end of the season, unless they get an "F" grade. So will Hatfield Town if they don't find an "F" graded ground to share.

As to money - I'm sure that the cash they take doesn't even cover the cost of the match officials! They will have rent and rates to pay, electricity costs etc - you can't run a club at this level for less than about
